Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities: Sour Cherry Berliner Weisse

Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities Sour Cherry Berliner WeisseFlying Dog is releasing “Brewhouse Rarities” each month in 2012.  The beers will be limited to draft only, and the Mid-Atlantic region.  The first release was Imperial Hefeweizen.  Other potential releases include Black Lager, and Disobedience Dubbel (to also see bottles) and Berliner Weisse.   Some of the batch of Berliner Weisse was going to be aged with sour cherries for a little before/after touch.

Style: Berliner Weisse (w/ sour cherries)
Availability: Draft only. Mid-Atlantic Region
Arrival: April, 2012 (Tentative, could be later depending on release order.)

Flying Dog Berliner Weisse To Join Brewhouse Rarities

Flying Dog is releasing “Brewhouse Rarities” each month in 2012.  The beers will be limited to draft only, and the Mid-Atlantic region.  The first release was Imperial Hefeweizen.  Others include Black Lager, and Disobedience Dubbel (to also see bottles).  Above is Berliner Weisse brewed to exact German specifications.  Apparently the brewery is planning take at least part of the batch and do a secondary fermentation run with sweet cherries.  Flying Dog will also be releasing another German style – a gose, as the weather gets warmer.

Not All Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities Are Draft Only

Flying Dog Disobedience DubbelJust 2 weeks ago, BSJ mentioned that Flying Dog Brewing was adding Disobedience Abbey Dubbel to the Brewhouse Rarities series.  These releases are/were limited to draft only offerings around the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like one will get a little bottle treatment too – Disobedience Abbey Dubbel.   Disobedience is brewed with maple syrup.

Style: Dubbel (w/ Maple Syrup)
Availability: Draft. 750 ml bottles (limited)
Arrival: After April, 2012

Flying Dog Disobedience Dubbel Joining Rarities

Flying Dog Disobedience DubbelFlying Dog Brewing (Frederick, MD) is releasing a new  “Brewhouse Rarities” each month throughout 2012.  Each beer is limited to draft, around the Mid-Atlantic region.  Recent releases include Imperial Hefeweizen, & Black Lager.  If the time timeline serves correctly, Disobedience Abbey Dubbel joins the lineup in March.  Disobedience is brewed with maple syrup.

Flying Dog Rarity: Cherry Cocoa Black Lager

Flying Dog plans on releasing “Brewhouse Rarities” each month in 2012.  The beers will be limited to draft only, and the Mid-Atlantic region.  The first release (tapping this month) is Imperial Hefeweizen.  Black Lager will follow (all tentative, remember I’m not the brewery) will be Black Lager.  Brewed with cherries & cocoa nibs.  Sounds perfect for Valentines Day right ?

Flying Dog’s Brewhouse Rarities

Flying Dog Imperial HefeFlying Dog Brewing has created Brewhouse Rarities, a limited release series coming your way in 2012.  The beers won’t be limited to just tap room, but around the mid-atlantic region.

The first in the series Imperial Hefeweizen. Per FD:

  • ABV: 7.3%
  • Specialty Malts: Malted White Wheat, Flaked Wheat
  • Hops: German Perle
  • Appearance: Robust gold with healthy yeast haze
  • Aroma: Sweet malt with banana and clove undertones
  • Mouthfeel: Full-bodied and highly effervescent
  • Taste: Bready with banana and bubblegum fruitiness
  • Finish: Crisp snap of malt and spice
  • Food Pairings: Washed rind cheeses, green apple, nuts, artisan bread, key lime pie
Arrival: 1 per month, starting in January, 2012
