Meet SweetWater’s 16th Anniversary Ale

The donger need food. And beer. SweetWater Brewing (Atlanta, GA) will through down with a hella radical Sweet 16 Party this Sunday.  16 years to the date this heady folks opened. Above is your official reveal of the 16th Anniversary Ale. Ask your parents if you can stay out past curfew. The style this year is a red wheat wine. Draft debuts on Sunday, bottles after your hangover subsides.

All growns up for now, or at least in our minds we are. Hair in new spots, lawn jobs at school, proficient in poaching 2nd story windows, and most importantly, we got a license to ride. Speaking of the ride – the last sixteen years have been a blur, but a very good blur – like driving 140 mph and trying to focus on a single tree in the forest. Yap – blumrr. All along not forgetting who we are, where we came from, and where we’re going! The speedometer ain’t pegged, cause it says 180!

For our super heady 16 year anni beer we stepped on the gas and headed down the road less traveled! Our B-day present to ourselves is a Racy Red Wheat Wine Ale Racy Red Wheat Wine Ale Racy Red Wheat Wine Ale Racy Red Wheat Wine Ale. Sucked The SSAB “not a SAAB” rips down the road at Alc.11% by Vol., fueled by a 45% wheat bomb with an afterburner hop shot of Amarillo, Willamette, Nelson Sauvin, and US Goldings that pushes this baby to the limit of sensory overload.

Get in. Sit down. Hold on. Shut up. A little older and a little less wise, even better looking (after 10 beers) and yes, still acting like 16 year olds.

Your parents out of town?

SweetWater Bottles “The Gimp” [PICS]

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) has spent the later part of this week bottling their latest Dank Tank creation – The Gimp.  Gimp is an old ale that pushes the 11% ABV mark. This boozy offering is anything but submissive though. Expect flavors of toffee, and caramel, with a slightly hot finish.  The use of Nelson Sauvin hops lends The Gimp a little fruity note in the middle of each sip.  This beer is meant for the cellar. When you’re feeling like it. – Bring Out The Gimp!

This Old Ale promises to tease the senses, giving off sweet scents of caramel and toffee mixed with warming sensations of alcohol and malt, all well-balanced with a low-voltage dose of hops. It’s advised that this brew be stashed in cellars for a few months before consumption, but once broken out, its submissive deliciousness will be sure to please. Warning: this brew gags up 10.3% ABV so it’s suggested to ease in to The Gimp with caution.

Below are few pics from bottling day, and a tasting session with Nick Nock, SweetWater’s head brewmaster.

Style: Old Ale
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft
Arrival: Christmas Week, 2012

SweetWater Wants You To Get “Some Strange”

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) wants you to get Some Strange. In this case, an imperial black IPA. This Dank Tank release is inspired by Capt. Danky’s night out at The Cheetah & Johnny’s Hideaway. If you lived in Atlanta, you’d know what that is.

Living large with his 7 year squeeze, Capt. Danky was suddenly blindsided as he discovered General Betrayus under the sheets with his ho. Unstable, delirious, and in desperate need of relief, he headed to the Cheetah to drown his sorrows with a few motorboats. After his wallet was drained by a lonely dental hygienist student, she whispered in his ear the 411 on a swinging late night dance club called Johnny’s Hideaway where he might get lucky. Wearing his big boy pants, he jumped in the first cab and beelined it to the hopeful honey hole. A stupefied Capt. Danky slipped in and was immediately pounced on by the house mama who set her meat hooks into him to do a little dirty dancing. Capt Danky was swept off his feet by this big ol’ beauty and lured back to her cougar den for some Danky Spanky. Capt Danky awoke with an ear to ear hicky and massive claw marks on his chest, back, and sack-a-jo-wia. He slowly rolled over and uncrusted his eyes, hoping to figure out what was saddled up next to him under the leopard skin sheets. As his vision cleared, he gagged, learning he had ‘seasoned” a big fat black double IPA. Horrified, he grabbed his ring off the nightstand and jumped out the window before it was awake and ready for roust two. Here’s to hoping his buddies never discover his bag-age. Get Some Strange!

Before you get Some Strange, be on the look out for The Gimp, another boozy offering to be released before the end of 2012.

Style: Imperial IPA (Black IPA)
Availability: 22oz bombers
Arrival: 2013

10% ABV

Bring Out The Gimp! SweetWater Readies New Dank Tank Release

SweetWater The Gimp

SweetWater Brewery (Atlanta, GA) will unleash The Gimp before the end of the year. This highly cellarable release is a aggressive, and deserves a spanking. I think you’re just the person to give him one.

The Gimp A love story! A wide open Old Ale, The Gimp gags up Alc.10.3% by Vol. and is bred to be stashed in a Dank dark cellar only to be brought out for your most “special” guests! This full-bodied Gimp gives off sweet scents of caramel and toffee and, as legend has it, warm sensations of malt balanced by low voltage doses of hops delivering a SHOCKER you’ll actually want to receive. Don’t keep The Gimp’s leash too tight, as he will mellow with age and become more experienced the longer he stays locked up in the cellar. Bring out The Gimp!

Style: Old Ale
Availability: 22 oz bombers
Arrival: Late 2012

10.3% ABV

SweetWater Danktoberfest Bottling [PICS]

Lovers of the lovely liquid that comes of SweetWater Brewery’s Dank Tank, your wait for a new release is here. Behold, Danktoberfest. Tis the season, and time to get festy. Oktoberfesty that is. Yesterday the brewery worked hard bottling and hand packaging bombers of SweetWater’s first true lager.

Danktoberfest is big, clocking in at 8.5% ABV. Don’t worry though. This beer doesn’t drink that way at all. You can quaff a full 22 ounces of this malty brew and not even know it’s pushing 9%. From the pics, you’ll see bottle filling, freshies coming down the line, and the guys hand boxing them. Head brewer Nick Nock pulled a few off the line for “quality control” purposes.  That’s the bearded fella pictured below. Danktoberfest is only available in 22oz bombers. Draft only at the brewery for tours.

Style: Imperial Oktoberfest
