Cigar City settles Stanley Cup bet with 3 Floyds Brewing

Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, FL) has made good on a bet they made with 3 Floyd’s Brewing, over the outcome of the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals. The result is Cigar City/3 Floyds Florida Man Loses Bet.

It started with a few Twitter comments when the final two teams emerged to fight for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Ultimately, a collaboration was going happen, and all the fans would win. It just depended on which team pulled it off.

Cigar City/3 Floyds Florida Man Loses Bet is described by CC as a “rye American black ale”. So, puck colored.

12 ounce cans of Florida Man Loses Bet Rye American Black Ale are available now in Cigar City Brewing’s tap room for $14 dollars a 4-pack.

The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to win the 2015 Cup.

The Bruery Fourthmeal, a collaboration with Maine Beer Company

The Bruery Fourthmeal, a collaboration with Maine Beer Company is being bottled today. The Freeport, Maine based brewery recently traveled to Placentia, California for a brew day.

The Forthmeal name is a little homage to some of Maine Beer Company’s most popular offerings, Lunch and Dinner. The beer is a hoppy, Belgian-style ale, that combines flavor elements that both breweries are known for – Maine Beer Co.:Hoppy, The Bruery: Belgian influenced.

The Bruery and Maine Beer Company got together and cooked up something special for you: fourthmeal. It isn’t brunch; it isn’t “dinner.” It’s a hoppy Belgian-style ale that brings aspects of both breweries to the table: fruity, Belgian yeast esters, a crisp, ready backbone, citrus and piney hop characteristics, and a dry, hop-forward finish. There’s no-one shouting “come n’ git it” when it’s time to dine – just mouthwatering, dry-hopped aromatics, signally that it’s time for fourthmeal.

Per The Bruery, the collaboration will be “hoppy” with limited distribution through their network. Release details to follow.

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America Returns in 2016, With 30 Breweries

Sierra Nevada (Chico, CA/Mills River, NC) will re-create the Beer Camp Across America Series again in 2016. Today, the brewery released a little teaser video, now that the brewery process has already begun.

Last years Beer Camp featured 12 breweries creating their own Beer Camp recipes around the United States. The 2016 party will feature 30 breweries, chosen in six regions of the United States. (See graphic below).

These 30 breweries are in groups of five (plus a brewer from Sierra Nevada). Each will devise a new recipe for the Beer Camp Across America mixed pack, coming in 2016.

Next year, expect Beer Camp Across America release parties and special events in the six regions, starting with Northern California.

In the meantime, flashback to Beer Camp Across America 2014’s lineup.

Stone Brewing Co. & Sierra Nevada team up with a hoppy result

Stone Brewing Co. and Sierra Nevada have teamed up, and the result will be in glass and bottles very soon. This is NXS IPA.

What it is.

Stone/Sierra Nevada NXS IPA is a blend of fresh hop IPAs, aged in used spirits barrels. Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman, and Stone brewmaster Mitch Steel split the collaboration right down this middle. 50% of the beer was aged in rye whiskey barrels, while 50% was aged in gin barrels. Finally, the resulting beer was blended with fresh IPA, resulting in something truly hoppy… and special.

This special-edition beer conveys the true character of collaboration with touches of inventiveness and creativity. Two batches of an IPA were brewed and expertly blended to craft this multilayered beer. The first batch was split down the middle, with 50% being aged in gin-infused bourbon barrels and the remaining half aged in rye whiskey barrels.

Sierra Nevada Stone NXS is available in 22 ounce bottles as of December 1st, 2015.

Style: Imperial IPA (Barrel Aged. Rye Whiskey. Gin.)
Hops: Magnum,Amarillo, Chinook, Cascade, Centennial & Mosaic
Availability: 22oz Bottles
Debut: 12/1/15

8.2% ABV

El Segundo Broken Skull IPA, brewed with Stone Cold Steve Austin

World Wide Wrestling’s Steve Austin loves drinking beer. (Ever get your ass kicked by him in the ring, he will be chugging beer over your bruised carcass.)

He’s been spotted drinking the likes of SweetWater IPA and Red Brick’s Hoplanta while in the city. So when an opportunity came up to brew a beer with El Segundo Brewing, it was a no brainer.

This week, El Segundo Broken Skull IPA will be released, a hoppy collaboration with Stone Cold himself. The IPA is brewed with Cascade, Citra and Chinook hops, and is designed to finish bone dry.

Broken Skull IPA: A bad-ass 6.7% IPA designed by Steve Austin and ESBC for the working man & woman. It features Citra, Cascade, and Chinook hops to deliver big flavor with an easy finish. Now stop reading and start enjoying this awesome beer! Cheers! Steve

El Segundo Broken Skull IPA will debut in the brewery’s tap room on November 13th. Stone Cold himself will be behind the bar pouring. Tickets are $40 dollars, which gets you a bottle of beer, signed poster, and photo op.

Additionally, the brewery mentioned to Beer Street Journal that bottle sales for Broken Skull IPA will potentially be available for purchase online by the end of the year. TBA.
