Weasel Rodeo is the Next Jester King/Mikkeller Collab

Jester King Weasel Rodeo

Weasel Rodeois the 2nd collaboration between Jester King and Mikkeller. (First was Ale/Malt Liquor In TX’ Geek Brunch.)  This new weasel is based of Mikkeller’s Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, a beer brewed with “weasel coffee,” the most expensive coffee in the world.  You might have heard it called “poop coffee” because the kopi luwak “weasel” eats the berries of the plant, and excretes the coffee beans.   Vietnamese roaster, Trung Nguyen, provided the Kopi Luwak coffee.  Weasel Rodeo is brewed with smoked malt and ground chipotle pepper.

Why, upon seeing a testosterone-fueled beast angrily thrashing about, did someone once think, “Betcha I can stay on that horse longer ‘n you.” How come the first time a searing hot pepper was popped into a mouth it wasn’t the last? And what about stepping in coffee bean-studded weasel poo provoked the human brain to ask the unreasonable question, “Reckon’ diesel’ make a decent cup of Joe?’ Even beer itself began with the thought, “Let’s squeeze the liquid out of those soggy, sprouting grains, leave it around for a few days until it starts to smell funny, and then drink it.” When the curious urge to do seemingly stupid things doesn’t kill us, it can sometimes yield bizarre and splendid results. Bottoms up! Jester King Craft Brewery is an authentic farmhouse brewery in the beautiful ‘Texas Hill Countty, on the outskirts of Austin. We brew what we like, drink what we want and offer the rest to those who share our tastes.

Stone To Bottle Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers

Stone Brewing Co will soon promote Smoked Porter with Chipotle Peppers for the first time ever.  The beer has been draft only, “from time to time” offering.

In December of 1996, we first released cult favorite Stone Smoked Porter, our second beer to ever “go public,” following Stone Pale Ale, which debuted five months earlier. Fast forward one decade shortly after we’d moved into our new brewery on Citracado Pkwy in Escondido. In May of 2006, Stone Smoked Porter became the first Stone beer to get a “modification treatment,” reborn as Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers. It was a thing of spicy glory, with the just-right smoky heat of the roasted jalapeiio peppers combining beautifully with the beer’s peat-smoked malt and roasty character. The mix of spiciness and the beer’s natural chocolaty overtones further complimented the symphony of flavor. (Ever try a spicy artisanal chocolate? You should; they can be quite incredible!) The beer quickly became one of Stone co-founder Greg Koch’s personal favorite. Even so, it’s still only ever been a limited “from-time-to-time” draft beer, and has never been bottled. Until now. Will we ever bottle it again? That’s for you to decide!

Style: Porter (w/ chipotle peppers)
Availability: Draft, 12 oz bottles
Arrival: TBA (Bottles)

5.9% ABV

Stone Adding “Crime” To Quingenti

Stone Brewing Co is adding Crime to the Quingenti Millitre lineup.  Crime is a mix various hoppy Stone brews, mixed with chilies, and aged in whiskey.   There is a counterpart (Punishment) that goes along with it’s partner in Crime. (See what I’m doing there?)  Greg Koch tells the story on the label…

Greg here with a short word.  Question actually.  Maybe even a riddle.

As in, Q: “What do you call it when Greg takes his harvest bounty of chili pepper varieties from his own personal garden and/or Stone Farms, and adds them to… and thus ruins… and otherwise beautiful barrel aged blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale, OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, and Double Bastard Ale (AKA Lucky Basartd Ale)?

A: “A Crime!”

Q: ” What do you call it when you take a sip of Barrel Aged Double Bastard Ale that’s had an equal share of the bounty of chili peppers unceremoniously added in, resulting in a punishingly intense level of hot pepper heat to an already overly intense beer?”

A: “Punishment.”

And there you ahve it. As with  many riddles boys and girls, this one carries a cautionary tale.  Yes, I could have written it out Brothers Grimm style, but we don’t have time fo fairy tales.  You got two riddles and a warning, and that’s all. Unless you’ve actually managed to procure one of these ultra rarities in which case you’ll get Crime and Punishment. Not to mention regret. Hmmm… I like it.  “Regret.” No THERE’S a great name for a beer.

Note: This beer is fro fans of capsicum heat only. If you don’t qualify, then stay far afar away (or as some prefer, whimper and whine through tear stained eyes). You should realize in advance that no one cares to hear said whimpering and whining about your foolish decision.   It’s better to remain silent and be thought a whimp, than to whine and complain and remove all doubt.

Style: American Strong Ale (Barrel Aged, w/ Peppers)
Availability: 500 ml bottles. Limited Release
Arrival: TBA

8.5% ABV
