Breakside Fortunella, Fruit and Funk Series Release #2

Breakside Fortunella has officially hit shelves, a part of the brewery’s Fruit and Funk Series.

WItbier is the base for Broadside Fortunella, fermented entirely on kumquat fruits. For an added twist, the brewery also added coriander and chamomile.

 The resultant beer is lightly tart, shows a huge aroma of fresh citrus, and has a dry and spicy finish.

Breakside Fortunella is the second release of six beers in their Fruit and Funk Series, each available for two months at a time.

Style: Witbier (w/ Kumquats, Chamomile, Coriander.)
Hops: Opal
Malts: German Pilsner and Wheat, Flaked Oats

Natty Greene’s Specter White IPA Kicks Off Silo Series

Natty Greene’s Brewing Company (Greensboro, NC) will launch Specter White IPA, the first in their Silo Series in 2015.

Specter White IPA is brewed with Sorachi Ace hops, orange peel, chamomile, coriander, and lemongrass.

Specter White IPA was pulled from Natty Greene’s Master Brewers’ archives due to its exceptional and unique characteristics.

Natty Greene’s Specter White IPA will be a draft only offering. The Silo Series in 2015 will progress this year with a series of draft only offerings and wide-range of styles.

Yellowhammer Belgian White Headed to 12oz Bottles

Yellowhammer Brewing (Huntsville, AL) will soon put their Belgian White in 12oz bottles.

The Yellowhammer take on the Belgian white is a little different. Instead of the more traditional hints of orange and coriander, the Yellowhammer white derives a hint of spice from Kaffir lime leaves and fresh ginger. A perfect beer on a hot day.

Yellowhammer Belgian White is a year round offering.

Cigar City’s Putting Sugar Plums in Cans

Cigar City Brewing’s (Tampa, FL) Sugar Plum Winter Porter look to make a can appearance this year. The once a year porter has been available in the past in 750ml bottles. It’s a bit of a complex porter as well, as you can see from the list of ingredients below.

A rich English-style Porter forms the stage for holiday flavors which dance a festive ballet highlighted by pirouetting leaps of winter-inspired spices. Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, rose hips, and chamomile compliment the subtle chocolate and light coffee notes of the malt and the addition of roasted carob and chicory complete the performance. Brewed once a year to celebrate the season…
