A description from BA clues us in a little bit more: Loosely based off our 2000th brew at our production facility, we revived this hybrid American / English Barley Wine for a special treat. Coming out of the tanks we aged it in barrels previously used for Bourbon County Stout to add another layer of complexity.
Per Goose Island’s release schedule, King Henry is set to take his throne in December, 2011.
Cigar City Imperial Milk Porter, released in 2011.
The barrels are Stranahan Colorado Whiskey barrels. Milk Porter in Stranahan. Sounds like a silky smooth whiskey winner.
So, what you have here is a high gravity porter brewed with lactose and aged in whiskey barrels. It tastes like catching your favorite song on the radio with hints of the parking meter expiring, but not getting a ticket. It’s good.
Cigar City Imperial Milk Porter was available for a limited time in 750-milliliter bottles.
This is more on the side of – Ain’t It Cool News, then a piece on a beer you will see in the United States. Recently Garrett Oliver, brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery traveled to Sweden with his entire brewing team. In tow was 150 Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. The team was there to celebrate the 175 Anniversary of Carnegie Porter, first brewed in 1836. Heaven Hill Distillery is based in Bardstown, Kentucky and their barrels are frequently being used in barrel aged beers.
While in Sweden, Oliver completed in a friendly Beer vs. Wine competition (in which the brewery’s blog says he won!) & was interviewed by local media. Check out more at <BrooklynBlog>

Nick, Barnaby and Chris from the legendary Three Floydsvisited BrewDog in August 2010 to brew this crazy beer. Aninherently Scottish spin on a barley wine brewed with peated malts from Islay, shortbread, toffee and eclectic hops. After fermentation the beer was aged in old Jura single malt whisky barrels for 8 months.
All because of the Scamp Wolf of Badenoch. Bitch it up baby!

We plan on a brewery only release of our initial batch in May or June. Watch for updates on Facebook and our website. We will be aging the first production batches in special, very flavorful, Canadian whiskey barrels and we are scheduling a production release in about 12 months.
Hoppin Frog (Akron, OH) is releasing a new addition of their popular Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal Imperial Stout. The medal winning edition of Boris spends its final days at the brewery in whiskey barrels (Jack, etc.) This new edition of Boris – Boris Royale spends time in Canadian Crown Royal barrels.
After speaking with Fred Karm, brewmaster at Hoppin Frog – this first edition release will be very limited. Sold only at the brewery in Akron. Karm hopes to be able to release more of it in the future. Tentative Description:
Fortunate is he who, in the name of brewing and good beer, shepherds the weak through the valley of macrobrews. For he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost taste budds. And I will strkike down upn thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my beer. AND YOU WILL KNOW MY NAME IS B.O.R.I.S. WHEN I LAY BY FLAVORS UPON YOU.
Arrival: 6 weeks, Brewery only release. Production release in 2012.
