Ninkasi Grapefruit Sour is on the horizon in Eugene, Oregon.
There is no doubt about it. Sour beer is on the rise in a American. Just 5 years ago, Berliner weisse, wild ales, and more were fairly hard to come by. Today, wild and sours are becoming the way of brewing life.
All that was poor segway into NInkasi Grapefruit Sour and the Heavy Kettle Project. This new (potential) beer is a kettle soured beer features both the lactic tartness of the souring process, but also of the grapefruit. The result is what Ninkasi touts as a crushable and extremely delicious beer – and just 5% alcohol by volume.
The Heavy Kettle Project fuses our love of metal and the process we use to create a lineup of smashingly fruitful American KettleSour beers. Refreshing in every way, this Grapefruit Sour melds bright citrus juice with a dry tartness from the souring process. Incredibly crushable and extremely delicious.
Grapefruit looks to kick off a series of kettle soured offerings in the new Heavy Kettle Series. Other series by the brewery includes Flagship (year-round), Seasonal, Special Release, R&D Series, and the Goddess Collection.
Ninkasi Grapefruit Sour will be a draft 22 ounce bottle release. The brewery has not yet announced this beer.
