Deschutes Brewery (Bend, OR) is in Asheville, North Carolina this week, shopping. For what? A spot for their east coast brewery.
Deschutes President Michael LaLonde mentioned back in April that the craft brewery was shopping for an east coast build. Asheville, North Carolina, which is already home to breweries like Hi-Wire, Green Man, Highland, and Wicked Weed, has gained new neighbors from the west- Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, and soon, New Belgium.
Other spots considered include Greenville and Charleston, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Currently, Deschutes ships to 28 states, and has told Beer Street Journal in the past that they are eyeing all 50 in the future.
The new brewery would come online in 2019.
