Orpheus The 12th Labor, big on barrels returns in August

Orpheus The 12th Labor initially joined the Atlanta, Georgia brewery’s bottle lineup in the fall of 2015. It followed the brewery’s first first bottle, Wandering Blues (blueberry sour) that same month.

Orpheus The 12th Labor is an imperial stout fermented with Abbey yeast, aged in Woodford Reserve, and Woodford Double Oak Bourbon barrels. (As long as the same barrels were used for this upcoming release.

This is a big, big stout. The charred molasses, dark chocolate and smoke, plus a big, in-your-face bourbon barrel flavor. This imperial stout pours like motor oil and just begs for vanilla ice cream or creme brûlée as a side pairing. Hell, we love it with steak. Does drinking this in the heat not tempt you? Save it for the first chill of fall.

The 12th Labor is an overpowering 13% Imperial Stout with intensely layered flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, and dark fruit. You’ll be lulled to dreams of a distant past you can’t quite remember in a world teeming with noise and flesh. With each sip, The 12th Labor is a struggle at the edge of darkness.

Orpheus The 12th Labor will be available in 22 ounce bottles at the brewery on August 17th, 2017.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Candi Sugar. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Hops: Apollo

Carolina Bauernhaus plans to bottle their spicy ‘Walhallapeno”

Anderson, South Carolina’s Carolina Bauernhaus is planning on bottling their spicy Walhallapeno beer. A collaboration with Frothy Beard Brewing.

If you are a fan of heat, you’ll find it here. Jalapeños bring the burn, rounded out by a touch of tartness by the base beer which is a gose. This beer has been frequently found in the taproom and has a loyal following. As we understand it, one of the founders of Frothy Beard hails from Wahalla, South Carolina. Thus, the derivation of the Walhallapeno name.

Salty! Sour! Spicy! Walhallapeno is our delightfully refreshing collaboration with our friend at Frothy Beard Brewing in Charleston, SC. The bright spicy flavor of locally grown jalapeño peppers are a delicious complement to our salty and sour Gose. This rustic refined flavored ale was oak fermented with our house blend of native yeast and soured with locally sourced lactobacillus from SouthYeast Labs.

Carolina Bauernhaus Walhallapeno is slated for 22 ounce bottles, and already available on draft.

Style: Gose (w/ Jalapeno Peppers)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut (Bottles): TBA

Orpheus Over and Over, a new pineapple sour

Orpheus Over and Over is joining the brewery’s year-round lineup in the near future.

Pineapple is the centerpiece of this new kettle-soured ale. The brewery added the fresh pineapple juice to the first batch this week. While Orpheus Over and Over is a reference to Greek prophet Orpheus, we’re pretty sure just “over and over” is how often you’ll want to drink this new release as well.

The grievous cycle of transmigration of souls could only be broken after the mysteries of the gods were revealed to Orpheus. Those mysteries have been lost to time, so enjoy your endless loop. We packed as much pineapple and brightness as we could into this small, tart beer, for an experience you’ll actually want to repeat over and over.

Orpheus Over and Over will debut in July on draft first, with 12 ounce cans to follow shortly after.

Style: Sour/Wild Ale (w/ Pineapple)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.

Debut: July, 2017

Monday Night Fu Manbrew takes aim at cans, will sport “Indie” logo

Our favorite year-round offering from Monday Night Brewing (Atlanta, GA) looks like it will be getting the aluminum treatment in the near future.

The beer we are talking about is Monday Night FuManBrew, a witbier that rocks just a “whisper” of ginger. Refreshing is the go-to word when describing the this beer we’ve come to love (since it’s 2012 debut of course).

As for the lovable folks at Monday Night, it took four years of test batches (dating back to their garage days) to perfect this beer. As good as it is, the love hasn’t been easy to take everywhere. No cans. Looks like that’s about to change.

This Belgian-style wit is an effervescent, easy-drinking wheat beer, brewed with Belgian yeast, German hops, and a whisper of ginger from the Far East. At 5.2%, it’s light enough to quench your thirst in the heat, but flavorful enough to keep you interested.

Monday Night FuManbrew is already available in 12 ounce bottles and draft, year-round. Something important to note as well – the can will sport the new “Independent Craft” label from the Brewers Association.

Style: Witbier (w/ Ginger)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft. Current.
Debut (Cans): TBA

5.2% ABV
