The Bruery Gets Belgian Famous

Folks fromt The Bruery (Placienta, CA) are touring Belgium. They made Belgian TV while they were there. A fan The Bruery has a translation

“Basically they are saying that a lot of americans are visiting 3 Fonteinen. The commentator says that it is unbelievable how much these americans know about Armand’s brewery and that they almost see Armand as an idol; they have an unlimited respect for him. Armand himself doesn’t understand this hype around his person. After the conversation in English (when Armand is pouring some gueuze) he says that his brewery is some kind of Disneyland for American brewmasters. Then he says that he visited USA in June, and when he told people he is a belgian brewer, Americans considered him as a rockstar and wanted pictures with him. The commentator says 3 Fonteinen was almost broke 15 years ago but because of the big interest from American customers and other foreigners, they survived. Now they can’t keep up with the orders from abroad. If Armand wants to, he can sell all his stock to American customers but he doesn’t do that because he’s loyal to his local customers. 50% is export.”

2013 Bruery White Chocolate. It’s Out There

Bruery White Chocolate 2013

What happens when you take a wheatwine (think White Oak), aged it in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans and cacao nibs? Something ridiculous. The Bruery’s White Chocolate. You’ll be hard pressed to find this bottle of sexy very far from Orange County, California, but like a luxury car or the Iron Man suit, you just want it. I wouldn’t chug this at a football game, but I would sip this at home by fire, surrounded by rich mahogany and many leather bound books.

Currently on sale at The Bruery’s tap room for $29.99 a bottle. No limit. If you love us, grab us a bottle(s). That’s what real love is.

Style: Wheatwine (w/ Vanilla Beans, Cacao Nibs, Barrel Aged. Bourbon)
Availability: 750 ml bottles

14.25% ABV

The Bruery Mash & Grind, featuring coffee and bourbon

The Bruery Mash & Grind, a barrel-aged barleywine from the California based brewer.

The English-style barleywine (more malt forward than American barleywines) is aged in bourbon barrels, with coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa. I’m sure you get where the name comes from by now – Mash (beer) & Grind (coffee beans).

Mash & Grind is Mash with the addition of Portola Coffee Lab’s Lucio Delgado (Columbia) at a rate of 1 lbs. per 10 gallons. This has contributed an intense coffee aroma and some additional body, with flavors of raspberry jam, tart pineapple and maple brown sugar. Mash & Grind is certainly delicious on its own, but we deliberately sought a strong coffee aroma and flavor so you could try your own blending,

The Bruery Mash & Grind is a 750 milliliter, limited bottle offering.

Style: Barleywine (w/ Coffee. Barrel Aged, Bourbon)
Availability: 750ml bottles
Debut:

12.5% ABV

One Shade of The Bruery’s Grey Monday

A cousin? Sister? Hot neighbor to the infamous Black Tuesday– this is The Bruery’s Grey Monday. It is closing in on a year ago that Beer Street Journal mentioned that this Black Tuesday variant was going to be released. No implying here. Grey Monday is the brewery’s massive imperial stout aged in bourbon (Black Tuesday), with a hazelnut addition. Every member in the 2012 Reserve Society received one last year…

We are going to do an extremely limited bottling of this beer, just for you. Each member will get a single bottle. There will be no extra beer for sale. Not to you and not to anyone else. We want this one to be extra special.

Grey Monday is a part of the Reserve Society again this year too. By all estimates this will be the 3rd brew of what sounds like an insanely good imperial stout. (1: Dinner at Beachwood BBQ, 2: 2012 bottles). Good luck getting your handles on a taste or even a bottle.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ hazelnut, Barrel Aged. Bourbon)
Availability: 750 ml Bottles. Bruery Reserve Society Only.
Arrival: TBA (2013)

18.6% ABV
