The Bruery & Smog City Team Up on Atomic Kangarue

Those that can’t get enough of two breweries collaborating, add this to your radar. The Bruery Atomic Kangarue, a collaboration with Smog City Brewing (Torrence, CA).

Atomic Kangarue is a complex beer for sure. The base is a Belgian-style golden with two grape varieties, then fermented with Brettanomyces, and house strain yeast. Finally, Atomic Kangarue blended with a sour blonde ale and dry hopped again with Amarillo. I told you it was complex.

We’ve been friends with the folks at Smog City for many years and getting to brew a beer with them was a dream come true. Truly, only the world of dreams could this remarkable beer have been manifested. A Belgian-style golden ale, brewed with Semillon and Viognier grapes plus three types of hops, fermented with Brettanomyces Trois as well as our house yeast strain, then blended with a sour blonde ale and finally dry-hopped with Amarillo hops. This beer couldn’t be more complex and we couldn’t be more proud of it.

The Bruery/Smog City Atomic Kangarue will be available in 750ml bottles. Reserve/Hoarders society release only.

Style: American Wild Ale (w/ Grapes)
Availability: 750ml bottles
Arrival: TBA

“Your satisfaction with your membership in our Hoarders and Reserve Societies is one of our highest priorities. And we thank you for being part of our world. Believe us when we say that we hate it when our beers don’t turn out as we expected. The Bruery is a labor of love and it hurts us personally when we have to fall on our sword and admit to a fault in our beer, but we never want to release a beer that we don’t steadfastly believe in.

Just to note again, refunds for bottles and shipping fees will be automatically processed beginning next week. We will not be fulfilling any pending orders for Couverteur.”

The Bruery Addresses Black Tuesday Issues

The Bruery had a bumpy Black Tuesday. Nearly 4000 people immediately logged on to buy the coveted beer, and the eCommerce site tanked. Beer lovers can be a cranky, and sometimes mean sort. (Read over the Twitter and Facebook comments.) The Bruery has a statement on the tech issues, and the work in the future.

Good morning everyone! Thank you so much for making Black Tuesday as ridiculous of a day as usual. Most of you know that we’ve been spending a lot of time and money to make our eCommerce system run faster and smoother and most of you also know that it was pretty much a dud yesterday morning when Black Tuesday went on sale. Believe us when we say that we get no satisfaction out of seeing our site crash and our customers becoming upset.

Our goal at The Bruery is to create exciting beer and along with that, to share that beer with as many people as we can. It sucks when the plan to share the beer becomes an issue. Luckily, we have an amazing collection of supporters who stuck with our slowly crawling website throughout the day and we ultimately were able to get Black Tuesday into the hands of more people than ever before.

We certainly can’t guarantee that we’ll have a perfectly working site next year, but we can guarantee that we’ll reexamine our current processes so that sharing our beer is easier in the future.

Thank you so much for sticking it out yesterday, and for those who were able to purchase some Black Tuesday, we hope you have the chance to share it with your friends and family over this upcoming holiday season.
Cheers!

Everyone at The Bruery

**for the tech people out there – we’ll be discussing the issues with our developers over the next few days and will hopefully put up some more detailed information on where the problems lie. We know that many of you have solutions, but best to see the true problems first!
