Beer & Pancakes

Beer & Pancakes.  Sounds like a match made in heaven.  On Saturday, May 21st Brick Store Pub hosts a pancake breakfast & yard sale. From BSP:

Please join us on Saturday May 21st from 8am til noon for the first annual Brick Store Yard Sale and Pancake Breakfast. We will be selling tons of old glassware and other goodies from the beer vault. Chefs Rian Tittle and Dano Gordy from Brick Store and Chef Wesley Kayyali from Leons Full Service will be preparing some delicious breakfast treats in the dining area. We will be celebrating American Craft Beer Week as well so i decided to throw on a couple of decent breakfast beers.

The next edition of Terrapin Brewing’s Side Project Series is about to ship.  Indiana Krunkles swings in soon.  Rumor has it, he still hates snakes.  Expect more Krunkles as a reoccurring character in the breweries works of beer.   Imagine an the malts of a German hefeweizen, and the hop bill of an IPA and you have Indiana Krunkles.

About Indiana From Spike:
The Legend of Krunkles lives on with number 15 in our Side Project series of beers. “Indiana Krunkles” Wheat I.P.A. boasts all the hop adventure of an American I.P.A. while leading you on a quest for the malt and yeast found in a traditional Ger- man Hefeweizen. Explore all the unique flavor of this uncon- ventional wheat beverage while your senses take you on a journey into complete beer nirvana. We hope you enjoy this audacious brew!

Style: American IPA (Wheat base)

Tomfoolery (SP #14)  just arrived.  Indiana Krunkles is #15 – a wheat based IPA.  Target arrival by May.   Summer gives way to the new Midnight Project with Left Hand Brewing.  That gives way to fall, with some more surprises up Terrapin’s sleeve.

The style hasn’t been disclosed.  The name isn’t 100% either.  There’s going to be a little legal discussion before the beer goes public.  Lawsuits suck.

RUMOR: Terrapin/Left Hand Midnight Project #4

Terrapin & Left Hand Brewing are already talking about the 4 edition of their Midnight Project collaboration series.  The series, started in 2008 – was purported to have been born out of a late night chat at the Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA.  3 beers have been made since that infamous chat – Terra -rye’Zd, Depth Charge, and Oxymoron.

Beer #4 will is tentatively scheduled to be brewed in July 2011.  This edition is brewed at Terrapin this year, with peaches are being discussed as the ingredient of choice.  Name? While not set in stone, “Fuzzy Wuzzy” is a potential.

Still all the the planning stage & subject to change.  Midnight Sessions #4 is planned for a Fall, 2011 arrival.

Terrapin Twilight Road Warrior Debuts Today

Terrapin Brewing is releasing a very small batch kolsch, with the first kegs tapping today.  The beer is Twilight Road Warrior Kolsch, brewed in honor of the Athen’s Twilight Criterium, a professional bike race held in downtown.

The first of the few kegs produced will tap today at Classic City Brewfest in Athens.   The rest will be available at select places during the Twilight.  Spike Buckowski, brewer at Terrapin tried to mimic the exact process and ingredients that make German style kolschs great.   Proceeds from the beer sales benefit the Twilight Foundation which oversee’s the race.

There will be a special after hours tour & fundraising party at Terrapin benefiting the Twilight.  For more info check out Online Athens.
