SweetWater Danktoberfest Bottling [PICS]

Lovers of the lovely liquid that comes of SweetWater Brewery’s Dank Tank, your wait for a new release is here. Behold, Danktoberfest. Tis the season, and time to get festy. Oktoberfesty that is. Yesterday the brewery worked hard bottling and hand packaging bombers of SweetWater’s first true lager.

Danktoberfest is big, clocking in at 8.5% ABV. Don’t worry though. This beer doesn’t drink that way at all. You can quaff a full 22 ounces of this malty brew and not even know it’s pushing 9%. From the pics, you’ll see bottle filling, freshies coming down the line, and the guys hand boxing them. Head brewer Nick Nock pulled a few off the line for “quality control” purposes.  That’s the bearded fella pictured below. Danktoberfest is only available in 22oz bombers. Draft only at the brewery for tours.

Style: Imperial Oktoberfest
Availability: 22 oz bombers. No Draft
Arrival: Headed to shelves now

8.5% ABV

SweetWater Releases Danktoberfest (PR)

SweetWater’s first true lager, a high gravity Oktoberfest-style brew, promises to straighten your schnitzel

ATLANTA (September 28, 2012) — SweetWater’s devilishly talented brewers are at it again. Just in time for a fall release, the boys have banded together to brew the first true lager style beer to come from the South’s second largest craft brewer. Danktoberfest, a high gravity Oktoberfest-style brew, is the latest creative brain-child to come from the brewery’s infamous Dank Tank series.

This full-bodied lager delivers a malty taste and bready aroma, packed with zesty hops and huge amounts of heat.  Weighing in at a whopping 8.5% ABV, Danktoberfest is brewed with German malts and hops to include: Pilsner, Munich, Cara Munich, Aromatic, Dark Munich malts; and German Perle and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops.

Danktoberfest will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and hit shelves in select locations starting the first week of October. Samples will also be available on draft at SweetWater’s Tasting Room on select tour dates. Fans should act fast and save some for the cellar. Mr. Dankenshnitzel won’t last long.

“We are excited to be able to break through our ‘ale wall’ and get our hands dirty with some serious lagering,” said SweetWater Head Brewer Nick Nock.  “Carrying on the Oktoberfest tradition, we used fine German malts and hops, while adding in our own dankness to give it a classic SweetWater spin.”

SweetWater’s Dank Tank lineup is a series of rarely released beers from the hombres of headiness. These occasional treats from the dark side of SweetWater’s soul emerge from the brewery’s experimental one-hitter…the Dank Tank. Brewed only when the itch gets so bad, they just have to scratch it.

SweetWater Danktoberfest Joining Dank Tank Series

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) gets into the fest spirit with this next edition from the Dank Tank. Introducing Danktoberfest. The Dank Tank Series is a sudsy line up of one off brews from the biggest brewery in the southeast.

While Krones was working on SweetWater’s brewhouse, which they were 3 months behind schedule on (that part is true), one of their sour kraut engineers drove a gabelstapler over Mr. Dank’s toe and broke it. Mr. Dankenschnitzel jumped a flug to Krones HQ in Deustchland to pick up his large siedlung check. Looking to quell his T Pain, Dank beelined it to Oktoberfest in Munchen and into the arms of a friendly farulein who quickly uber serviert him. Stumbling blindly, Herr Dankenschnitzel, laden in lederhosen and longingly looking for a lovely loo, humpelte into the Bitterburger Brewery to drain the main vein. Unable to hold it any longer, Danken Guender feuer abegespritzt all over the control panel, short circuiting their infamous Oktoberfest bier. The beer no longer fit the rhinobutt purity law, so Hans and Franz kicked his arsch out of the mother land and told Danky doodle dandy to take that mischmasch back to SübWasser with him.

Style: Oktoberfest
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft
