Sierra Nevada West Latitude Session Rye, for Beer Camp

Sierra Nevada West Latitude Session Rye will be part of the new Beer Camp Across America mixed pack in May, 2016.

The last round of Beer Camp Across America in 2014 featured 12 hand-picked breweries that created their own unique beer. In 2016, 30 breweries come together to collaborate, paired by geographic locations.

Sierra Nevada West Latitude Session Rye features five Northern California breweries (plus Hawaii) – a collaboration with Bear RepublicMaui BrewingFaction Brewing, Magnolia Gastropub & Brewery, and Mad River Brewing Co. The team has created a low ABV session ale brewed with hibiscus.

Sierra Nevada West Latitude Session Rye combines our Californian Left Coast love of fruity hops with a touch of Hawaiian “aloha” from the addition of hibiscus flowers, all anchor by robust malts and spicy rye. This session beer is light in body and looks large, like the long shadows of the western sun.

Sierra Nevada West Latitude Session Rye will be a 12 ounce bottle offering in May, a part of the brewery’s Beer Camp Across America 12 pack. The beer will also be featured at the special Beer Camp events across the country.

Style: Pale Ale (w/ Hibiscus)

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale in May

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale will be one of the beers in May’s return of Beer Camp Across America.

The last round of Beer Camp Across America in 2014 featured 12 hand-picked breweries that created their own unique beer. In 2016, 30 breweries come together, paired by geographic locations.

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale covers the northeast region of the United States – a collaboration with Devil’s Backbone (Virginia), Dogfish Head (Delaware), Lawson’s Finest Liquids (Vermont), Stoudt’s Brewing (Pennsylvania), and Trillium Brewing Company (Massachusetts). For those of you that remember history, all those states were among the 13 originals.

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot is an “old-meets-new” take on a pale ale by brewers all located in the original 13 colonies. It features rye and apples, which were among the first ingredients used by American breweries in the colonies, alongside bold American hops-hallmarks of our modern craft beer “revolution.”

Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale will be a 12 ounce bottle offering in May, a part of the brewery’s Beer Camp Across America 12 pack. The beer will also be featured at the special Beer Camp events across the country.

Style: Pale Ale (w/ Apples)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: May, 2016

5.6% ABV

Sierra Nevada Otra Vez Gose, a first taste

Sierra Nevada Otra Vez will join the brewery’s year-round lineup in January, 2016.

Sierra Nevada Otra Vez is a goes-style offering; definitely departure from their library of hop forward beers. After 5 years of working to perfect this recipe, this final recipe features prickly pear cactus and grapefruit.

“We wanted to make one of the easiest drinking craft beers out there, and funny enough Otra Vez has been a bear to get just right,” said Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada’s founder. “We brewed several test batches a week for nearly a year, and even delicate changes made a big difference. Then it all clicked with perfect balance and complexity. We think folks will really enjoy it.”

Today we got to taste this beer a few weeks ahead of the launch. It’s crazy good. Sierra’s nearly 2 years of test batches show not only the breweries desire to get Otra Vez right, but to perfect the American version of the style. (Which means cactus and grapefruit in this case.) The taste is tart (with grapefruit overtones), while still being crisp. Touch of salt on the finish. A 6 pack won’t last you very long.

Sierra Nevada Otra Vez will be a draft,12 ounce bottle and can offering. Bottles first, cans by the end of January, 2016.

Style: Gose (w/ Cactus, Grapefruit.)
Availability: 12oz Bottles, 12oz Cans, Draft. Year-round
Release: January, 2016

4.5% ABV

Sierra Nevada Five Hop Experimental IPA will be part of the next 4-Way Variety Pack, with 3 other hop forward offerings, to be announced.

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America Returns in 2016, With 30 Breweries

Sierra Nevada (Chico, CA/Mills River, NC) will re-create the Beer Camp Across America Series again in 2016. Today, the brewery released a little teaser video, now that the brewery process has already begun.

Last years Beer Camp featured 12 breweries creating their own Beer Camp recipes around the United States. The 2016 party will feature 30 breweries, chosen in six regions of the United States. (See graphic below).

These 30 breweries are in groups of five (plus a brewer from Sierra Nevada). Each will devise a new recipe for the Beer Camp Across America mixed pack, coming in 2016.

Next year, expect Beer Camp Across America release parties and special events in the six regions, starting with Northern California.

In the meantime, flashback to Beer Camp Across America 2014’s lineup.
