Monday Night debuts opera cake inspired ‘Fistful of Cake’ on March 8th

More pastry stouts. Monday Night Fistful of Cake is coming to the brewery’s Westside Atlanta location on March 8th.

You should know what a pastry stout is by now. In this case, this release is inspired by opera cake, a French dessert known for its layers of chocolate and coffee. The chocolate in this beer comes from the malt, the coffee from local roaster Batdorf and Bronson, and a “budget-breaking” amount of vanilla beans.

Look for Monday Night Fistful of Cake in 16-ounce cans at the brewery on March 8th, hitting limited distribution shortly after.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee. Vanilla Beans.)
Availability: 16oz Cans
Debut: 3/8/19

“Bright & in your face” Firestone Walker Bretta Tangerine debuts

There’s a new wild ale rolling out of Buellton, California – Firestone Walker Bretta Tangerine.

This new hybrid wild ale features 1,000 pounds of specially selected Murcott tangerines grown in Ojai, California. According to master blender Jim Crooks, the Murcott wasn’t just a geographical decision. “The aroma coming off the zest was so pungent, bright, and in your face. We knew that it was going to make this beer pop,” he said.

Bretta Weisse serves as the base for Bretta Tangerine, which has seen fruits like blackberries and black currants.

The Final Blend.

The Murcott tangerine concentrate as blended with 15 barrels for Bretta Weisse for fermentation and maturation. Additionally, Crooks took tangerine concentrate from Ventura Coastal and co-fermented it with another lot of Bretta Weisse. The two tangerine lots were blended together with a third lot of 18-month old Bretta Weisse.

Firestone Bretta Weisse is available in 375-milliliter bottles in all markets the Barrelworks line is sold starting the last week of February 2019.

We shouldn’t have wait until the 5th release to try Wild Leap Alpha Abstraction

It took us until the fifth edition of the beer to finally find out what all the excitement is surrounding LaGrange, Georgia’s Alpha Abstraction Series. What this long means we waited too long.

Wild Leap Brewing’s reputation in the beer world is made by Alpha Abstraction aka “AA”. The double India pale ale is one of the best juicy/hazy style IPAs in Georgia right now. While each release uses a different hop bill, the response from fans is clear- they love it.

Wild Leap Alpha Extraction #5 is double dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops, finishing with just a hint of bitterness. This 12-ounce can of juicy goodness is velvety smooth to the point of being creamy, lingering with tropical fruit hop flavors that linger with every sip. In our opinion, this a great example of why the hazy IPA is popular.

AA #5 is a limited release in 12-ounce cans and draft. Wild Leaps states the 6th edition is coming in mid-March.

Style: Imperial IPA
Hops: Nelson Sauvin

Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft. Limited Release.
Debut: Early February 2019

8% ABV
