New Belgium & G-Love Create Peach Porch Lounger (with Southern Twist)

Anyone else get a little giggly when news of a new Lips Of Faith beer from New Belgium surfaces?  Before you read any further, click play on the video.  Now keep reading.  Peach Porch Lounger is the result of a musical collaboration with G-Love of G-Love and the Special Sauce.  G-Love, better known as Garrett Dutton, has been home brewing since high school.  Mr. Love is also a big New Belgium fan, reportedly riding a Fat Tire bike to the beach.  The name?  Based off of G-Love’s favorite song – Front Porch Lounger.  The bottle mimics the cover of that album – The Hustle.

An afternoon on the stoop, foot stomps a loop. Southern style poured in 2 glasses, time becomes molasses.  Harmony with hominy grits, peel the peaches and throw out the pits, get some action in the bottles with brettanomyces.  Peach Porch Lounger is just for you.

Style:  strong ale?  (w/ molasses, lemon peel, peach juice)
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft
Arrival: TBA

9.4% ABV

New Belgium Red Hoptober. What’s the Difference?

This year, New Belgium will release a new fall seasonal dubbed Red Hoptober.  Sounds a little (or a lot) like their recent seasonal – Hoptober.  So what’s the difference?

According the the local New Belgium rep, the difference between Hoptober and Red Hoptober is the use of El Dorado Red hops.   The hops have been around for about two years.  They will come from CLS Farms in Washington State.    The new hops will give the fall seasonal a tropical, fruity flavor it.

Look for it in Late July/August, 2012.

New Belgium’s Red Hoptober Coming This Fall

New Belgium Red Hoptober

This should pretty much confirm the rumor, New Belgium will replace Hoptober with Red Hoptober this fall.  It’s not too surprising.  The brewery changes up its seasonals every couple of years.

A pleasing ale for the harvest season, Red Hoptober is pitched with Centennial, Cascade, and Eldorado Red hops.  It’s the perfect sipper for these last, fevered days of summer and the cooling, coming autumn nights. Bold and delicious, Red Hoptober has just enough bitter to delight.  Crack one open, sit back and enjoy the season’s change.

Style: Red Ale
Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft
Arrival: Late July, 2012

6% ABV
