NEW: Mikkeller Nelson Sauvin Brut

One of the newest offerings stateside from Mikkeller – Nelson Sauvin Brut.  It’s a Bière Brut with brett, aged in Austrian Sauvignon Blanc barrels.  The Nelson Sauvin hop used in the beer is famous for a wine-line flavor profile.   It’s bubbly, grab a champagne glass.  It is a bruit edition of the Nelson Sauvignon brewed last year.

About Brut:

Brewed by base malt and mashing and fermentation with added enzymes to achieve as high fermentability as possible. Forboth bitter, taste and aroma hops are used the New Zealand hop variety ‘Nelson Sauvin’ which is named after its grape characters that bring memories to the New Zealand white wine grape Sauvignon Blanc. The yeast is used both champagne and brettanomyces and because the enzymes are beers fermented very far down, and thus the end result is a very dry beer. After fermentation the beer has been 5 months in casks of white wine from Austria Weingut Kollwentz and gained additional character.

Style: Bière Brut (wine barrel aged)
Taste Expectations:  Oak, grapes, vanilla, green apple, banana.  Light booze overtone. Bubbly.
Availability:  750ml bottles. Wrapped.

Mikkeller, Nogne-O, BrewDog Make Black Tokyo Horizon

Black Toyko Horizon

Brewdog’s Hop Propaganda revealed this little number.  Mikkeller, Nogne-O & BrewDog crossed paths to brew this little number…

We now have a tiny amount of Black Tokyo Horizon ready to rock.

This collaborative beer was created when the paths of Mikkeller, Nogne-Ø, and BrewDog merged. It is an equal combination of ideas and inspiration extracted from each brewery’s respective huge stouts, Black, Dark Horizon, and Tokyo*.

With loads of dark malts and prodigious hops, this ultimate imperial stout yields an aura of mystery and adventure, inspiring imaginations and challenging convention and jaded orthodoxy.

This is an unearthing; this is the Black Tokyo Horizon.

Sure to hit the BrewDog store soon.  Also – new steel 2.5 pint growlers…
