Heavy Seas Wet Hops A Porter. Haarvest Arrives

Heavy Seas Brewing’s new Hop Haarvest Ale is now available.  While everyone is hard at work making fresh hop pale ales and IPAs, Heavy Seas went in a little different direction – a porter.  It’s appearance was an unplanned surprise (that you won’t end up having to pay its way through school) and a result of a house recipe competition.

Local Maryland hand picked wet hops were used to make Haarvest.  Drink it fresh and enjoy it, not all states with Heavy Seas distribution got this beer.

Style: Porter (fresh hopped)
Taste Expectations: Roasty porter meets chewy hops.  Your taste buds will flip flop between flavors.
Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft.

Terrapin & Heavy Seas Celebrate A Free Spirit


Beer people are resilient.  Instead of just being sad about a senseless tragedy, Heavy Seas & Terrapin Brewing are bringing something good from it.  Free Spirit celebrates the life of Brittney Fox Watts who past away in July, 2011.   This farmhouse ale captures the “free spirit” of an individual who touched quite a few lives. This funky, unique ale features sunflower seeds and elder flowers.

Heavy Seas & Terrapin Plan Memorial Brew

HS Terrapin Memorial

The Terrapin & Heavy Seas family recently lost a loved one in a senseless tragedy.  Brittany Fox Watts was a lover of craft beer, & wife of Brian Watt of  Terrapin Brewing Company and sister to southeastern Heavy Seas rep Kevin Fox.  In true beer tribute fashion, a memorial collaboration beer is being planned by the two breweries, and labeled in her honor.

Donations in Brittney’s honor can be made to Children’s Health Care Fund or Georgia Organics.

Heavy Seas Davy Jones Lager – Imperial Pils, 7%. Imperial cream ale.  Grainy & smooth. 22oz

Evil Twin Ryan and the Beaster Bunny – Saison, 7%.

Evil Twin Ashtray Heart – Smoked Stout, 8.9%. Smokey  & dark.

Evil Twin Wet Dream – Hoppy Brown Ale, 8%.  Made for The Trappist in Oakland, CA

Evil Twin Katz Pis – IPA, 6.5%.  Renamed from Catz Piss. Stupid US alcohol rules.

Jailhouse Conjugal Visit – Red Ale, 6%.  New red ale from Hampton, GA. 22oz bombers.

Our special HOP HAARVEST ALE is designed to showcase the special flavors derived from our locally grown, Maryland “wet” hops.  The 2011 release is a 5% alc/vol porter in style.  We hope you enjoy the unique profile that comes from freshly harvested hops!
