Raging Bitch Issues In Michigan

No Raging Bitches in Michigan. Flying Dog has lost its first amendment lawsuit in Michigan. In 2009, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission denied the brewery approval of the Raging Bitch label in the state.  The decision was reversed just three months later.  Flying Dog moved forward with a first amendment lawsuit against the liquor board anyway, due to the three months the beer was kept off the shelves.

Federal Judge Robert Jonker has ruled in favor of the commissioners, stating they cannot be sued by the brewery.  This has no immediate effect on the the beer being sold in the state.

Marion Barry Crack Jokes Are Still Funny. Thanks Flying Dog

20 something years ago, Marion Barry (then mayor of Washington D.C.) was arrested for smoking crack at the Vista Hotel downtown.  You can imagine the jokes that ensued for years after the incident.  Flying Dog is bringing it back with this poster.  “Crack One Open D.C.” celebrates the launch of Atlantic Lager in cans.  The new cans arrive Saturday. I’m sure Marion won’t be in attendance.  Crack jokes are still classic. via DCist.com

Flying Dog Oyster Stout Now Year Round

Flying Dog invites you to drink drink beer and restore the Chesapeake Bay all year long.  Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout will officially be a year round beer, distributed across the country.

The beer is a dry stout brewed with oysters from the Rappahannok River in Virginia.  Proceeds from the beer benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership.

“Our initial work with the ORP was just the beginning,” Ben Savage, Flying Dog’s VP of marketing, said. “Sales of Pearl Necklace will continue to benefit the ORP and also raise awareness nationwide of how critical oyster restoration is to the Chesapeake Bay.” The goal is to enable ORP to plant at least 1 million baby oysters back into the Chesapeake Bay through proceeds from Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout. “A healthy oyster reef not only filters the Chesapeake Bay’s waters, but also provides habitat for other important marine life such as blue crabs and striped bass,” Stephan Abel, Executive Director of the ORP, said. “Every oyster we plant back into the Bay will have an immediate, positive impact.”

Style: Dry Stout (w/ Oysters)
Availability: 12 oz bottles, Draft. Year round offering

Flying Dog Oyster Stout Goes Year Round (PR)

Frederick, MD (May 2012) — Drink beer and restore the Chesapeake Bay — all year round. Next week, Flying Dog Brewery’s Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout will be available for purchase year-round with distribution throughout the country.

A dry stout brewed with local Rappahannock River Oysters, Pearl Necklace was initially released as a limited edition brew last November. Flying Dog decided to brew the beer year-round not only because the beer itself was well received, but also because it supports a cause essential to the brewery’s backyard. Proceeds from the beer benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP), one of the region’s leading nonprofits restoring oysters back into the Chesapeake Bay.

Savage added: “Drinking Pearl Necklace literally helps restore one of the most endangered habitats on the planet.” Pearl Necklace will be available in all markets where Flying Dog is currently sold on draft and in 12 oz. bottle 6-packs.
