Harrisburg Blogger and Brewery Unite

Harrisburg’s Appalachian Brewing Company has paired up with Sara Bozich, local nightlife columnist and blogger (www.SaraBozich.com), to create the Bozich Black IPA. Sara, being a huge fan of IPAs, took this opportunity to work with owner Artie Tafoya to design a bold, hoppy Black IPA. The recipe called for 7 different types of hops and was then dry hopped with an eighth.

The beer will be available at all of their locations, and a launch party will be held at their Camp Hill location on March 7th to celebrate. Bozich Black IPA will be part of their Black Beer Series which will also include a Black Rye IPA and a Schwarzbier.

Style: Black IPA
Availability: on tap only
Arrival: March 2013

6.5% ABV

Website “The Chive” To Start Brewery

I got to meet website founders of The Chive last week in Atlanta. John told me about his plans to open his own brewery in Texas soon. KCCO is seeking a brewery to start contract brewing with.  They have been homebrewing for a while now.

The brews? No boobie laden labels have surfaced yet, but there are two styles they are working on –

Schwarzbier – It’s a toasty fucker with notes of chocolate but, unlike a heavy porter or stout, it’s amazingly crisp, clean, and light. It’s really a remarkable beer.

Gold LagerVery light and clean with a nice hop backbone (we switched to a Czech hop a while back which did the trick). Both beers are amazingly balanced and sessionable.

The goal is to make some of the best craft brews in America. As TheChive puts it – We want to make the highest quality beer possible here in America. It’s time to get away from bloated Macro brewers who don’t give a feathered fuck about their customers.

Seriously. We can’t wait to see whats on the label.

2 Guys Seek Millions In Damage For Watered Down Budweiser

Thomas and Gerald Greenburg of  Philadelphia, PA are officially suing the worlds largest brewer AB- InBev, stating the brewer “overstates” the alcohol in their beer.

The guys further stated that AB routinely adds water to the beer to increase the volume of beer that they can sell. The duo is seeking a purported $5 million in damages for the “diluted” beer.  Ironically, no mention of how The Greenburgs can prove this practice, or know this practice to be true was not mentioned.
