It is Now Up To The Alabama Governor To Make Alabama Home Brewing Legal

Gov. Robert Bentley holds the future of Alabama home brewing. The Alabama senate gave final passage last night on the bill that would allow citizens of Alabama the right to brew, literally being the last state to do so. Mississippi just lifted the ban this year.

If Bentley signs, the bill will have a 90 day waiting period. Then it will be law. We have our fingers crossed for you Alabama…

Is Your Beer Cold? There’s an App for That

We’ve all done it before. You come home with beer you want cold, or you pull something from the cellar you want to cool down a bit. The question – is when is it cold enough. Or, for those that are easily distracted, put a beer in the freezer – only for it to meet an explosive end.

That’s where Beerometer comes in. You tell it what you are chilling where it is going, and the app will either send a text, email you, even Tweet you.  And it’s all yours from $1.99 [iTunes]

Stella Artois Launches New “Cidre”

Stella Artois is launching Stella Artois Cidre into the U.S. market. It’s no secret that the cider market in the states is booming, and that’s why Stella is vying for a piece of the market.

Stella Artois Cidre is designed to be completely different from the sweeter U.S. ciders. Almost an alternative to white wine. This offering is drier, distinct offering. “Cider drinkers are now approaching cider with a sophistication similar to that of wine drinkers,” said Marc Stroobandt, a Belgian master sommelier. “To capture their interest, ciders certainly need to be refreshing and savory, but people also want something a little more complex and distinct, which Stella Artois Cidre offers.”

This dry cider is fermented at the Anheuser-Busch facility in Baldwinsville, New York. Look for it 12oz bottles, and 24 oz bottles in late May, 2013.

Style: Cider
Availability: 12oz bottles, 24 oz bottles
Arrival: 5/13/13

4.5% ABV

Miller Lite Completely Overhauls Bottle Design

For the first time in decades, Miller Lite has overhauled their bottle.  A few years ago, the mega brewer upgraded the neck to create The Vortex bottle- that only being a partial change.

This bottle design is different from the bottom up. It is more wide bodied, easier to grip, more modern. No changes to the recipe, however.
