Monday Night Brewing Launches August 8th

Monday Night Brewing Bottles

Everyone has been wondering when this was going to happen.  Monday Night Brewing is upon us.  The next Georgia brewery arrives August 8th.  Per Monday Night:

We’re excited. We’re about to launch. So loosen your ties, Atlanta.

If you want to be among the first to purchase some Monday Night beer, you’ll need to show up at Hop City on Monday, August 8 at 5:30pm. Hop City will be selling growlers of our Eye Patch Ale and Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale until they run out of beer and/or growlers. We’ll be on hand to answer questions about the beer, give unsolicited advice on your wardrobe, give creepy back massages, etc.

Why Hop City? They’ve been a great supporter of ours since day 1. We’ve bought supplies from them for brewing test batches. They’ve provided input on our test batches to make the beers even better. Plus, growlers! We aren’t bottling beer yet, but this will allow you to take some home to enjoy.

We suggest you don’t tell anyone else about this so there will be more beer for you. We’ll see you there!

Paulaner Aims To Double Sales

Paulaner

Paulaner – based in Germany, is making plans to double their sales by 2015.  Who wouldn’t want to do that right?  Paulaner seeks to achieve this in their international markets.  Italy showed 11% growth in 2010, and a whopping 41% in the Asia Pacific.  Since being founded in 1634, Paulaner has grown to have 22 breweries all over the world.  The international market expansion hopes to have their total output to 1.5 million hectoliters, or 39, 625,807 gallons, or just shy of 1.3 million barrels a year.

Press Release

(Munich, GERMANY) — When temperatures rise, there is no better than a nice refreshing white beer cold. Over the years, the Paulaner brewery in Munich, began selling its specialty beer in over 60 countries. “And demand is growing,” says Marcus Korte, director of international sales of Paulaner brewery. “Our international markets are very encouraging,” said Korte. “Exports account for about one quarter of our total sales. “The company is flourishing in Italy, France, Spain, Russia, the United States and China. In Italy, for example, sales increased by about 11% last year, and about 41% in the Asia Pacific.

Despite this success, the international markets still offer significant potential. The company intends to double sales by 2015, a total of 1.5 million hectoliters.

A total of 22 traditional Paulaner breweries are located throughout the world. To date, China has 13 microbreweries for Paulaner, which proved to be extremely popular with local and foreign clients for many years. In addition, there is enormous growth potential in other regions: at present, plans are underway for the creation of the first Paulaner brewery in the United States.

What will be served is a product that tourists from around the world enjoy the folk festival in the world’s most popular: the Oktoberfest , a beer-bodied, easy drinking and specially brewed for the occasion by Paulaner. It is served only during the Oktoberfest, September-October, and with sales in excess of 130,000 hectoliters of beer Oktoberfest Paulaner is the most sold in the world.

About Paulaner
The Paulaner brewery was founded by monks in 1634. Initially, the monks brewed beer exclusively for their own consumption. The company headquarters remains in Munich. Brewing over 2.1 million hectoliters of beer, the brewery is a market leader in Germany and worldwide.

The brews will be sold in 6 & 12 packs, beginning in 2012.

Full Press Release

NEW ORLEANS, July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The Abita Brewing Company is pleased to announce it plans to offer three of its flagship brews in cans: Amber, Purple Haze and Jockamo I.P.A.

Abita Brewing Company President David Blossman said, “We feel confident that today’s cans are a quality solution that will preserve and protect the flavor of Abita. For many years people associated craft beer with glass bottles, but the perception and the technology of the aluminum beverage can has changed.”

The new Abita cans will be coated with a special water-based lining to protect and preserve the great taste of the beer. This lining insulates the beer from the can’s interior surface. Canning also limits exposure to UV light and oxygen, two elements that can damage the taste of beer.

“You can take cans to places where glass might not be convenient or allowed…parades, fishing, tubing, golfing or the beach,” said Blossman. “We’ve made it even easier to bring Abita to the party, wherever it’s happening.”

Cans are easy to recycle, weigh less to ship and the average new beer can is made of 40% recycled aluminum. “Abita is committed to a greener environment. We conserve energy and water, create our own bio-gas and drive greener vehicles. We use recycled content in our bottles and packaging. Aluminum cans are one more way Abita is working to keep our part of the world green and clean.”

Abita will offer the canned product in six and 12 packs and expect it to reach store shelves early in 2012. The canning will be based at the brewery in Abita Springs. Abita will continue packaging in glass just as they have since they began brewing in 1986.

The Abita Brewing Company was founded in Abita Springs, Louisiana and is the oldest and largest craft brewer in the southeast. Abita is the 30th largest commercial brewer by production volume in the nation and the 17th largest craft brewer inthe United States. Sales for the company should exceed 130,000 barrels this year.

Abita Brewing Company produces seven flagship brews: Abita Amber, Golden, Light, Turbodog, Purple Haze, Jockamo I.P.A. and Restoration Pale Ale. Abita also offers five seasonal beers, three Harvest brews, three Big Beers and a draft-only series of Select beers.

Expansion For Lazy Magnolia

Lazy Magnolia Brewing (Kiln, MS) is expanding 4 fold.  Lazy just received a $740,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  The interest free loan can be repaid over the next 10 years.  This is part of a $3 million dollar expansion occuring over the next 4 years.

Lazy Magnolia Brewing was started by Leslie & Mark Henderson in 2003, with their first batches by 2005.  The two are engineers that got into brewing with a beer kit at Christmas.  In the first year, Lazy lost 80% of their business thanks to Katrina.  The brewery has steadily grown since.  By the end of this year, Lazy plans to max out at 15,000 barrels.  At the end of the expansion, total output will max at 50,000 barrels.  Expansion will triple employment (16 to 50) and double the building size.

Lazy Magnolia currently distributes to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and some of Georgia. Next up, North & South Carolina and Texas.

Beers include:  Southern Pecan (brewed with LA pecans), Southern Gold (local honey), Jefferson Stout (w/ sweet potatoes.) [ClarionLedger]

More Blue From Labatt

Labatt is expanding the “Blue” line of beers.  3 more styles are on the way from Labatt Breweries…

TORONTO, ON — To mark the 60th anniversary of its flagship Labatt Blue lager, Labatt Breweries has announced the launch of three new extensions to the brand.

Blue Lime is a 4% abv lime-flavoured lager that is being presented as both a ready-to-drink product and a cocktail ingredient, with several recipes provided in press and marketing material.

Blue Dry is a revival of an older brand that was previously retired everywhere except Quebec, where the name is used for a series of high-alcohol beers ranging from 6.1% to 10.1% abv. This new national version is based on the 6.1% brew, and is described as having a “a crisper, drier finish” than regular Blue.

Finally, Blue 55 represents the brewery’s first foray into the ultra-low calorie market. As suggested by the name, it contains 55 calories per bottle, with 2.3% abv.

Blue Lime will be available only until September with distribution limited to Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, while Blue Dry and 55 have wider distribution and no set end date for availability.
