Vineland, NJ City Council approved a $50,000 loan for Turtle Stone Brewing to put the finishing touches on their microbrewery before the opening slated for next month. Turtle Stone will be one of the larger microbreweries in New Jersey with a 15 barrel system. Beers will mostly be sold to bars, there will be a tasting room and retail sales at the brewery.
It definitely is a different buisness approach. To date, Brewdog has seen 5,000 new shareholders in the program. Currently there are 10% of the available shares left.
New Belgium Brewing lost about a day of production due to the fire yesterday.
What happened?
The fire broke out around 12 noon. There is a spent grain silo that is scheduled for removal and replacement. They suspect that a worker using a blowtorch on the silo sparked the fire. It was extinguished in about 30 minutes without injury. Some production time was lost, as they shut down the HVAC system to prevent smoke from entering the brewery. No other brewery damage occurred. Beer Lovers Get A Chance To Vote For Sunday Sales In Georgia
Georgia is one of 3 remaining states that bans the off premise sales of beer and liquor on Sunday. Today that might truly change. After years of veto threats by previous Governor Sonny Perdue, staunch opposition from the Georgia Christian Coalition, and a year long debate – today the people have the chance to vote.
98 cities and 12 counties have Sunday Sales on the ballot today. Political analysts across the state of Georgia seem fairly confident that Sunday Sales will pass.
New Belgium’s Second Annual Clips of Faith Beer & Film Tour
Raised Nearly $59,000 for Nonprofits Around the Country
11,000 Attendees Gathered for Outdoor Films and Beer Tastings
Ft. Collins, CO, November 7, 2011 —Clips of Faith, New Belgium Brewing’s traveling philanthropic beer and film festival, recently wrapped up a record-shattering(!) 18-city tour. The second-year festival outperformed last year, bringing out 11,000 people in cities across the U.S. for amateur short films,
New Belgium’s esoteric Lips of Faith beers (http://www.newbelgium.com/beer) and food from local vendors. In total, Clips of Faith raised almost $59,000 for local non-profits (see how your city did below). Over its two-year run, Clips of Faith has raised approximately $91,000.
At each Clips of Faith stop, all proceeds from beer sales benefitted local, sustainably focused nonprofit partners. Attendees help support local organizations while sampling hard-to-find New Belgium beers beneath the stars. Eighteen of the best Clips of Faith short film entries screen at every show. In addition, each event had a zero waste component, diverting, on average, 91 percent of the waste from landfills and encouraging alternative transportation.
“There is something extraordinary about bringing out a community to support the arts and their local nonprofit organizations,” said Christie Catania, Clips of Faith Manager-at-Large. “Watching inspired short films and sipping beer under the stars is a great way to spend a summer evening. This tour grew exponentially from last year, showing that people enjoy the concept as much as we do.”
The creative team at New Belgium Brewing reviewed and selected the films that went on tour and picked three filmmakers to visit New Belgium for the Ft. Collins screening. Those honorees were “Bottles” by Colorado resident Geoff Maddaford; “Tiny Day in Jackson Hole Backcountry” by Wyoming’s Tristan Greszko; and “Assisted Migration” by Dusan Harminc of Wisconsin. Honorable Mentions were: “BLOB,” Trevor Hawkins, Missouri; “The Millionaires Club,” Sam Nuttmann, Washington; and “Ski and Chalk,” Chris Dickey, Wyoming.
If you are a filmmaker, or an aspiring filmmaker, and would like to be part of New Belgium’s 2012 Clips of Faith tour, entries are now being accepted at www.clipsoffaith.com. To take a look at some of the winning films from 2011, visit www.clipsoffaith.com.

Deer Crashes Through Bar Window, Leaves Without Beer
Patrons watching the Atlanta Falcons game over a few beers at Taco Mac got a big surprise Sunday, when a deer jumped through the window that front next to the bar. It’s ran around the restaurant briefly, then was let out onto the patio where it escaped into the woods. (No beer, or deer were harmed.)
And the douchiest headline for the story comes from Atlanta’s Creative Loafing:
