We’ve been waiting to find out who was the next purchase for Anheuser-Busch. The answer comes today – Golden Road Brewing.
Today, Anheuser-Busch InBev has purchased Golden Road Brewing, based in Los Angeles, California.
As Andy Goeler, CEO of Craft and Anheuser Busch InBev states in the video above, this all started with the Goose Island partnership (purchase) 5 years ago. Building off of that success, A-B InBev purchased Elysian, Blue Point, and 10 Barrel Brewing.
Brewery founder Meg Gil explains how impressed she is with A-B’s work with the “craft brands” prompted the deal, despite the 100% growth since they opened four years ago. She wanted to be with a “winning team”.
Goeler states the beer, the Golden Road culture, and the brewery’s pioneering of the craft scene in L.A. made the purchase a no brainer.
From here, Golden Road will go to Anaheim and Grand Central markets in California, with some hints of national distribution coming soon. A new Golden Road pub will be built in Los Angeles, and a second pub and production location coming to Anaheim in 4th quarter 2016.
Currently, Golden Road produces 45,000 barrels of beer (1.4 million gallons) annual. Details of the deal have not been disclosed. Brewery founder Meg Gil tweet moments ago, the deal with AB InBev has officially closed today, November 18th in Saint Louis, Missouri.

If you are even half serious about running, you’ve heard of Brooks running shoes. When we are sober enough to run here at Beer Street Journal, we wear Brooks. Damn good shoe. The company’s newest spokesperson – 22 year old beer mile record holder, Lewis Kent.
Kent has broken the beer mile record twice, holding the currently record of 4 minutes, 51 seconds. This is the first professional sponsorship for the “beer running” sport.
The beer mile entails running a full 5,280 feet as fast as you can. Oh yeah, while consuming 4 beers. For Kent, the extra 4 beers adds around 36 seconds to his mile time.
Brooks Sports has not divulged the deal terms, other than it spans 2 years. The deal includes shoes, of course.
Victory Hop Wallop was put on hiatus back in 2013 in order to bring Dirtwolf IPA into the spotlight. For quite a few people, Hop Wallop was king. Over the next three months, Victory will bring back a couple of throwbacks from the retired lineup.
Victory Hop Wallop, an imperial IPA,in on tap now through November.
Additionally, Victory Yakima Valley hits taps in December, followed by Victory Ten Years Alt in January. Ten Years Alt marked a decade milestone for the Pennsylvania brewery, dopplesticke style beer.
“Introducing new brands is very exciting to us and we love the artistic process which is one of the greatest joys of my job,” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “On the flip side, the least favorite part of my job is choosing which established brand will have to pass the baton to make room for the new, young gun. I hope our fans will be as delighted as I am to see some of their cherished brands make a comeback and take a walk down memory lane through drinking some really great craft beer.”
Each of the brands limited engagements will be draft only.
