Cigar City Soap. A New Kind of Shower Beer

Want to wash yourself with beer? Well, beer soap that is. Cigar City now sells locally hand-made soaps made with their 4 core beers: Jai Alai, Florida Cracker, Maduro, and Hotter Than Helles. These suds were made by Indigo Bee soap and can be found in their tasting room.

North Coast Adds Tanks, Expands Capacity

Back in May three brand new stainless steel fermenting tanks arrived at North Coast Brewing Company and now they are in place expanding their production 40% compared to last year. This expansion will also add about a dozen jobs to the company.

The American Homebrewers Association reports that after a recent survey homebrewing is seeing huge growth throughout the United States. The main results from the survey are as follows:

  • Homebrew Beginners: 80% of shops surveyed experienced increased sales of beginner homebrew equipment kits, signifying a considerable boost in interest in the hobby.
  • New Lease on Brewing: In 2013, 43% of responding shops said they have been open for three years or less, up from 34% in 2012, indicating considerable growth in new shop openings.
  • Beer vs. Wine: Sales of beer ingredients outpaced wine ingredients among home beverage supply retailers, with an average of 35% of retail revenue coming from beer ingredients versus 21% from wine ingredients.

Mikkeller Brews Again with Expensive Coffee

Mikkeller has selected the coffee for Cù’t  Ca Phê Bia, an imperial stout. The name in Vietnamese means cut coffee brewing. (Yeah, I used Google Translator).

This collaborative beer was created when the paths of Mikkeller, Nogne-0, and BrewDog merged. It is an equal combination of ideas and inspiration extracted from each brewery’s respective huge stouts…
