Only 240 cases will be available, and limited draft. Massachusetts only. It is important to note, once the brewery is built in Houston, Texas, the brewery will release Brash Urban Achiever once a year.

A New Saranac Aged in 100 Year Old Barrels

F.X. Matt Brewing Company (Utica, NY), brewer of Saranac beers, introduce Saranac Single Malt Scotch Ale.

This one off release joins the brewery’s High Peaks Series. Saranac Single Malt Scotch Ale was aged in whiskey barrels from the Tomintoul Distillery in Scotland. These barrels are over 100 years old and have aged both whiskey and sherry.

Saranac Single Malt Scotch Ale is available in 4-packs and draft for a limited time.

Mother’s Brewing Teams Up with Distillery

Mothers Brewing Company has teamed up with Copper Run Distillery (Walnut Shade, MO)on a new whiskey. Hopped Wheat Whiskey is now available in Missouri.

Copper Run used Mother’s Hopped Up Wheat beer as the wash in making the whiskey.

We double distilled the beer in our direct fire copper pot still making rich cuts, then aged it in new “deep char” Missouri oak barrels for two years.

Appearance: Golden Straw
Aroma: Orange Blossom, Grapefruit Zest, Pine, Multi-Grain
Flavor: Hops, Granola, Toasted Oak, Spice, Pepper
Body: Medium, Young and Spirited
Finish: Long lasting, hop bitterness with hints of cedar and blackberry

Boulevard Love Child #4 is a blend of whiskey and wine barrel aged ales, fermented with Lactobacillus (yeast that beer sour) and Brettanomyces (yeast that adds a “funky” flavor.

Shmaltz Big Barrel Aged Funky Jewbelation Returns

Straight off the line Shmaltz Brewing’s new facility in Clifton Park, New York is Funky Jewbelation.

Funky Jewbelation is a blend of seven different barrel aged beers. This American strong ale breaks down like this:

“Funky has been aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Sazarac and Willett Rye whiskey barrels. It’s a monumental blend of our favorite ales that we’ve lovingly nurtured for the past couple years. Since some of the beers were contract brewed and some brewed at our new brewery in Clifton Park, this Funky offering bridges our old life with our new. Funky Jewbelation 2014 glistens a deep ruby color with a big, tart, sour cherry flavor and a malty earth aroma. A lovely puckering is complemented by subtle hints of bourbon, charred wood, molasses and light notes of vanilla.”

Boulevard Rye-On-Rye 2014 Ships

It’s a cold January out there. Boulevard Brewing (Kansas City, MO) has a beer to help you warm up a bit.

Kicking off the the year with the first release in their Smokestack Series is Rye-On-Rye. The base beer a rye beer, aged in Templeton Rye barrels.

Why not brew a rich, tawny rye ale, then mellow it in the warmth of charred oak rye whiskey casks? Two kinds of malted rye provide spicy sweetness, giving way to notes of caramelized wood and the citrusy tang of Citra and Ahtanum hops before easing into a dry, lingering finish.

Style: Rye Beer (w/ Brown Sugar, Dextrose. Barrel Aged. Whiskey)
Hops: Magnum, Citra, Styrian Golding, Athanum
Malt: Pale Malt, Malted Rye, Munich, Cara 50, Crystal Rye
