Three Floyds & De Molen Create Zes Zes Zes

Three Floyds Brewing (Munster, IN) and Brouwerij De Molen have teamed up to create Zes Zes Zes. The beer was brewed on June 15th, while the folks at De Molen were touring the United States leading up to The Festival.  The beer is a big saison, fermented warm, and dry hopped. It’s evil to boot. Zes Zes Zes translates to “6 6 6” the saison of the beast.  So, so metal.

Now this is a saison! This refereshing Belgian-style ale is the combined effort of Three Floyds Brewing and De Molen’s fantastic brewer Menno (the real Dutch Hercules). This spicy and bracing ale was brewed in Munster, Indiana, but look out for the one we brew in Holland at De Molen. Each beer will be the same recipe, but the different breweries will lend their own house flavors to this saison.  Cheers and drost!

Availability: 22oz bombers

Stillwater To Bring Stateside & Cellar Door To Small Bottles

Stillwater Artisanal Ales will will be offering two of their popular offerings in smaller, 12.7 oz bottles this year.  Both beers are previously available in 750ml bottles.

Cellar Door – Starting with a base of German wheat & pale malts this crisp slightly hazy foundation was then accented with a blend of Sterling & Citra hops providing a intricate blend of herbal grass & tangerine citrus flavors and aroma. to pull this all together and to complete the ’cleansing’ aspect of my vision i gently finished the ale off with a touch of white sage, lending a mild earthy spice character to the blend.

Stateside Saison – Pays homage to old world tradition while celebrating new world innovation. Naturally brewed with the finest European malts & fresh aromatic hops from the United States & New Zealand.

Both great saisons in small, easier to manage formats…

Boulevard Saison Brett 2012 Arrives

This might be a little delayed, it’s hard to tell sometimes with special releases. Boulevard’s Saison Brett 2012 is now available.  Saison Brett is a member of the brewery’s smokestack series.

Saison-Brett, based on our very popular Tank 7, is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Though this farmhouse ale was given three months of bottle age prior to release, further cellaring will continue to enhance the “Brett” character, if that’s what you’re after.

Availability: 750ml bottles, corked & caged

Ommegang’s New Operatic Crescendo

Ommegang Crescendo

A busy week for Brewery Ommegang.  Yesterday, BSJ mentioned that the brewery will celebrate 15 years with “XV“, a trappist style dark ale.  The above is Crescendo, a saison.  Brewed with a variety of spices, including grains of paradise, coriander, lemon peel, and white pepper. Crescendo is brewed for the 2012 Glimmerglass Festival Season, an internationally renowned summer opera festival based in Ommegang’s home of Cooperstown, New York.  Now the name makes sense right?

This delectable saison is brewed especially for the 2012 Glimmerglass Festival Season, it opens with full flavor and carbonation – then fruit, spice and malt aromas.  The flavors then expand into a crescendo of complex tastes and body.  The finish is gentle, with a touch of sweetness and a lingering note of spice.

Style: Saison (w/ Grains Of Paradise, Coriander, Lemon Peel, White Pepper)
Availability: 750 ml bottles, corked & caged.  Draft
Arrival: TBA

7.3% ABV
