Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo Released in Quingenti Series
Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) released a collaboration – Xocoveza Mocha Stout last year. The beer was a creation of home brewer Chris Banker, who brewed with not only the Stone team, but Cerveceria Insurgente from Mexico.
Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will grace the brewery’s coveted Quingente Millilitre Series, a souped-up version of the original release. In addition to the cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg that was added to Xocoveza Mocha Stout, Stone has aged this edition in both red wine barrels and tequila barrels.
The base beer is the recipe of 2014 Stone Homebrew Competition winner Chris Banker, an intensely flavorful milk stout brewed with coffee and spices to mimic the rich flavors of Mexican hot chocolate.
Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will be available in 500ml bottles in very limited quantities. No distribution. Bottles were released at Stone World Bistor today.

Stone Announces New Quingenti: Guardian’s Slumber
Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) is following up yesterday’s announcement of Go To IPA with a new addition to the Quingenti Millilitre Series, Guardian’s Slumber.
Full details have not been released, as the name suggests – it may have something to do with their barleywine Old Guardian.
Update: Looks like three different bottles. As suspected, it’s 2013 Old Guardian Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels.
Barrel Aged Stone Double Bastard, AKA “Southern Charred” Released
Stone Brewing Co’s Double Bastard is will make waves again in barrel aged form. Double Bastard, the brewery’s strong ale, spent 10 months in heavy charred Kentucky bourbon and American oak barrels. After that, it was transferred to second use bourbon barrels for another 13 months. That’s 23 months in total.
Southern Charred joins Stone’s coveted Quingenti Series, and Crime & Punishment on a national distribution scale.
The dark amber ale was brewed with a huge malt bill and a belligerent amount of hops making it a heavy, bitter beast of a beer.
Southern Charred, along with Crime & Punishment and the annual release of Double Bastard are now shipping. See where below.

Two Stone Quingenti Hit National Distribution
Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) released two Quingenti offerings nationally today. This is the first time a Quingenti beer has hit full distribution.
The first of two is Crime, aka Lukcy Basartd Ale, aged in bourbon barrels with chills. CEO and co-founder Greg Koch “ruined” a bourbon barrel full of Lukcy Basartd back in 2010. The result was hot. And tasty.
Soon came Punishment. Oak barreled Double Bastard was introduced to Koch’s backyard hot chilis resulting in another tasty, hot treat.
Peppers grown at Stone Farms and beyond include red and green jalapeño, Fatali, Caribbean Red Hot, habanero, Ghost, Black Naga, Super, Moruga Scorpion, 7 Pot, Aji Amarillo, Scorpion, Giant White Habanero, 7 Pot Douglah and Douglah peppers. That’s a pretty hot lineup.
Thanks to the increased capacity of a new 500ml cork & cage bottling line, the rest of America can suffer along with the Californians that already have tasted these treats.
“Expanding our barrel-aging program to include national distribution is something we’ve been working towards for many years,” said Stone Brewmaster Mitch Steele. “Now that we have the ability to produce more of the Stone Quingenti Millilitre Series due to our new aged and bottling facility, our fans should expect to see many new barrel-aged flavor combinations as well as some re-brews of favorites we’ve released in the past.”
Expect Stone to release more Quingenti offerings nationally in the future.

Stone’s “Crime” Returning to Quingenti
Stone Brewing Co’s “Crime” has been spotted around the country on tap. It was Lukcy Basartd Ale beer “ruined” with peppers from Stone Farms. A “crime” to ruin such good beer with such intense heat. Stone took that beer and aged it in Scotch whiskey and the result was 2012’s Quingenti release of Crime.
Lovers of strong ale, peppers and barrel aging can get pysched again. 2013 Crime is just as fun, but with a barrel change to bourbon instead of Scotch whiskey.
Peppers include mid-level-heat red and green jalapefios and ultra-hot black nagas, Caribbean red hots, Moruga scorpions and fatalis.
Style: American Strong Ale (Barrel Aged, w/ Peppers)
Availability: 500 ml bottles. Limited Release
Arrival: TBA
8.5% ABV
