I can assume due to the name, this beer is destined for the rooftop tap handles.  Thyme as an herb add a lemony flavor to food/beer.  Add it to a pale ale & it’s perfect for pairing.

Bridgeport’s Summer Squeeze

The name is catchy enough.  Bridgeport Brewing is adding “Summer Squeeze” to their seasonal lineup.  The beer features Yuzu, a fruit that looks like an yellow orange originating in China.  The fruit grows on a small thorny tree.  Flavor of the Yuzu is tart, with some resemblances to Mandarin orange.  Yuzu is used in a lot of dishes where lemon would have been present.  Lemongrass, the second ingredient featured in this upcoming release is native to the Philippines.  Lemongrass is very citrusy.  There’s a reason Bridgeport calls Squeeze a “Bright Ale.”

Label:
Meet your new Summer Squeeze.  The refreshing brew infused with lemongrass and yuzu, the exotic asian citrus fruit.  The result is bright and crisp with a complex citrus finishe. Perfect for hot days.

Style: Pale Ale?
Availability: 12oz/6pks. Draft.
Arrival: Summer, 2011.

Tagline: This is one summer crush you won’t soon forget.

Victory Headwaters Pale Debuts

Victory Brewing celebrated 15 years of brewing on February 15, 2011.  For the occasion, Victory has released “Headwaters Pale Ale”.   The name Headwaters refers to the Downingtown, Pennsylvania’s most prized asset – Brandywine Creek.  The water comes from a branch of the creek 14 miles away.  Victory’s blog describes it the best:

Chief among those assets is the pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Style: American Pale Ale

Taste Expectations: Dry, crisp & clean.  Nice cereal grain flavor.  Light citrus hop flavor.

Availability: 12oz/6pks.  Draft.
