Westbrook Brewing’s New Single Hop Series

Westbrook Brewing Single Hop Pacific JadeA new single hop rye pale ale from Westbrook Brewing Co.  The pale ale features rye malt, and the Pacific Jade hop.  The series has seen one more in the series – a citra hopped rye pale ale.  The citra hop is a little hard to come by, so Pacific Jade is stepping up to the plate.

Our single-hop rye pale ales are created to showcase the flavor and aroma characteristics of individual hop varieties. The grain recipe is kept the same and only the type of hop is changed from batch to batch. Pacific Jade is a relatively new hop from New Zealand that exhibits a bold citrus and black pepper aroma with a soft bitterness. 

Style: Pale Ale

Get To Know Widmer’s New Gluten Free: Omission [Video]

Widmer Brothers has a new gluten free offerings: Omission Pale Ale & Omission Lager.  The gluten-free style of beer is growing with a greater awareness of those individuals with a gluten intolerance.  Gluten is found in barley, so brewing a beer without is a little complicated.  Each of Widmer’s Omission beers are lab tested for the presence of gluten.  Brewmaster Joe Casey explains the process.  Check out more gluten-free beers here.

Russian River Row 2 Hill 56

Russian River Brewing’s Row 2/Hill 56 is a pub only offering.  Just released in February.   It kicks off a new series for RR – the “Hop Grower’s Series.”  First, the beer is named for the location the hops were growing in the hopyard in Yakima, Washington.

Row 2 is brewed with 100% Simcoe hops.  The brewery goes on to say that 3 families in Yakima grow  Simcoe hops – Carpenter, Perrault, and Smith.

Style:  Pale Ale
Availability: Draft only.  Rotating seasonal.
