Introducing Brooklyn Scorcher #366

A summer pale ale with hops so new they don’t even have a name yet. Get in on the ground level and be a hop hipster with Brooklyn Brewing’s new Scorcher #366. Featuring hops just called HBG 366, this summer pale ale is a little citrusy with piney hop notes in the finish. The hops were cross-bread between Warrior and a “wild” hop back in 2001 and currently take up about 1.2 acres of land in the Yakima Valley of Washington. According to Brooklyn, Scorcher #366 packs the hop character of an IPA, but is sessionable at 4.5% and loves lobster, shrimp, and crayfish.

Metal Collaboration: Cigar City & GWAR

Another in the line of metal inspired brews is Cigar City Brewing & GWAR’s Impaled Pale Ale. For those of you that don’t know, GWAR is a satirical metal band founded in Virginia in the 1980’s. They are pretty damn metal.

Well hold on to your souls. GWAR has teamed up with Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing for a new liquid track. Impaled Pale Ale will be brewed this summer we’re told, and canned for the GWAR-B-Q festival in Richmond, Virginia this August. Tickets for that go on sale June 6th.

O’Dempsey’s Cold One Pale Ale Honors Brewer’s Father

O’Dempsey’s (Atlanta, GA) fourth beer offering is a touching, sentimental tribute to brewery founder Randy Dempsey’s father. Randy wanted to brew a pale ale that his Dad would have wanted to take fishing. Randy notes:  He wouldn’t say “fetch me a brewskie” or “pass me a pint”, he just didn’t talk like that. However, he would ask for a COLD ONE when he felt like it so there’s where the name comes from.” The label image is Randy’s father fishing in the Arctic Ocean.

This American pale ale is brewed with Zythos hops, to give the beer some  tangerine, lemon grapefruit and pine notes. A nice warm weather drinker.
