Alesmith Honors Tony Gwynn with Second Release

AleSmith Brewing Company will once again honor the late, great Tony Gwynn with a second beer release. A follow up to .394 Pale Ale,  “Hall of Fame” Imperial .394 Pale Ale commemorates Gwynn’s 55th birthday and raises funds for the Tony Gwynn Museum.

AleSmith’s “Hall of Fame” ale is part of the brewery’s ongoing 20th Anniversary Specialty Release Series. Recently, Alesmith hosted an event honoring Gwynn, allowing customers to pick up their pre-ordered “Hall of Fame” offerings.

“Tony Gwynn envisioned this beer in early 2014 after collaborating with us on the .394 Pale Ale,” said AleSmith Owner and CEO Peter Zien. “The AleSmith team is honored to remember Tony with a double pale ale bearing his Padre number, and proud to support the Tony & Alicia Gwynn Foundation with a Tony Gwynn museum at our new location in the fall.”

Alesmith Imperial .394 Pale Ale features an aggressive hop bill of All-American hops, and a bottle featuring real gold and includes the special Tony Gwynn replica signature from his 2007 Hall of Fame induction.

Tony Gwynn would have turned 55 years old this year.

Innis & Gunn Rare Oak Pale Ale, Now Stateside

Innis & Gunn Rare Oak Pale Ale is the latest release to hit the United States. The

This new bottle offering makes use of Scottish oak’s unique flavor that Innis & Gunn says hasn’t been used in brewing for hundreds of years.  Additionally, the brewery uses elderflower during the maturation process, and air-dried sweet gale for added flavor depth.

According to Stephen Harrod Buhner, award-winning American author of more than 20 books on nature and herbal medicines, the ancient beer was fabled to have had mildly narcotic qualities that would ‘stimulate the mind, create euphoria and enhance sexual drive.’ (To note, Innis & Gunn does not purport that Rare Oak Pale Ale carries the same qualities today.)

Innis & Gunn Rare Oak Pale Ale is available for limited time in 12oz bottles, and draft.

Style: Pale Ale (w/ Sweet Gale, Elderflower. Oak Aged.)
Hops Super Styrian, Whitbread Golding
Malt I&G Ale Malt, Golden Promise Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat

Highland Lost Cove American Pale Ale Arrives Mid-May

For the first time since 2013, Asheville, North Carolina’s Highland Brewing is releasing a new seasonal. Highland Lost Cove American Pale Ale arrives in May.

Named for a ghost town on the Nolichucky River (on the NC/TN border), Highland Lost Cove got its start on the 3-barrel pilot system a while back. The brewery uses Cascade and Hallertau hops, along with pilsner malt to create a sessionable, warm weather offering.

“Lost Cove is a thirst quenching, fun, light, sessionable beer with grassy German hops and citrusy American hops. This beer is interesting, its backbone is pilsner malt from the American Midwest, and we fermented it with our house ale yeast, creating a unique spin on an American pale. I’m looking forward to drinking one in the Meadow!”

Highland Lost Cove releases in mid-May in 12oz bottles and draft in all of Highland’s markets.

Style: Pale Ale
Hops: Cascade, Hallertau
Malts: Grains: Pilsen, Carapils, and Vienna

Stone Pale Ale 2.0 Released

A new spin on a Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) classic – Stone Pale Ale 2.0. The brewery recently retired their classic offering, Stone Pale Ale, to bring forth this redesign recipe.

Stone Pale 2.0 uses a fairly new varietal of hop the Mandarins Bavaria. The original Stone Pale Ale uses Magnum and Ahtanum hops.

As artisans, our passion for brewing is embodied in our beers. With this pale ale, our verve is represented with the classic quartet of hops, malt, water and yeast. In your first sip, you will encounter the best of two worlds—the New and the Old. This decidedly American West Coast pale ale showcases the full essence of the vivid Mandarins Bavaria hop, a relatively new varietal born from the storied fields of Bavaria. Floral notes and bright flavors akin to the mandarin oranges referenced in the hop’s moniker come to the forefront against a crisp, highly satisfying malt backdrop. In this but you can contemplate aspects of our past, present and future. Welcome to Stone Pale Ale 2.0, the out evolution in our brewing story. We’re glad you’re with us on this journey!

Stone Pale Ale 2.0 is now available year-round in 12oz bottles and draft.

Style: Pale Ale
Hops: Mandarina Bavaria
Distribution: AK, AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA and Puerto Rico.

Breckenridge Hulk’s Mash For Denver Comic Con

Breckenridge Brewery is an active and enthusiastic sponsor of the Denver Comic Con. Each year, the brewery brews a special one-off beer for the event. Additionally, the brewery takes to social media to name each year’s release. Last year’s offering – Brew’s Wayne.

On Friday, May 1st, Breckenridge Hulk’s Mash, a Mosaic hop laden pale ale, will debut. The name came from a pool of over 700 offerings, Jonathan Cooper’s name took the vote. Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design created the beer’s label.

The beer is delightful pale ale made with mango puree and Mosaic hops. It sounds mild-mannered, but don’t be fooled. Mosaic hops produce an aromatic punch of mango, lemon, citrus, and earthy pine scents. Loads of pulverized mangos heroically balance the hoppy aroma and flavor.

Leading up to and during Comic Con, Hulk’s Mash can be found at Breckenridge Colorado Craft, Hard Rock Café, Hyatt Regency, Marlowe’s, Paramount Café, Pizza Republica, Tarantula Billiards, The 1up (Colfax and Lodo locations), Tilted Kilt, and World of Beer.

Denver Comic Con runs May 23-35, 2015.
