Why Lagunitas Still Sucks

Lagunitas Still SucksSo this season, Brown Shugga’couldn’t be made by Lagunitas Brewing.  They weren’t happy about it at all, but DID make Lagunitas Sucks – an IPA attempting to smooth over hurt feelings.  As it turns out, Sucks has been quite popular.  Ok, so it’s no Shugga’ but a tasty substitute.

Remember when I mentioned you’ll see it again?  If you missed your shot at this tasty second stringer, you’ll get you’re shot with Lagunitas Sucks Holiday Leftover Ale. Here’s some good bad or bad good news.  It’s taking the place of Big Hairy Eyeball.  Recently, Lagunita’s new brewhouse ate it en route to Petaluma.  The delay has set production back even more.  So, more Sucks, less Balls. err.. Eyeballs. Hairy ones.

Big Hairy Eyeball will return in 2013.   Some beer is better than no beer right?

Red Hook Longhammer CansRedhook Brewing will be bringing Longhammer IPA to cans.  This will be their second beer offered in cans, after Copperhook.

The generous addition of hops both during and at the end of the fermentation process (dry-hopping) gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor.  The medium body, crisp finish, and moderate alcohol and IBU levels makes this one of America’s most drinkable and best-selling IPAs.

Style: IPA
Availability: 12oz bottles, Draft. Cans (2012)

6.5% ABV

Sam Adams Dark Depths

Sam Adams Dark DepthsAnother entry into Sam Adams Small Batch SeriesDark Depths.  Depths is a IPA or a hoppy porter ( Need some clarification) brewed with a lager yeast for an interesting mesh of styles.

Across the cold and brackish waters of the Baltic, the English Porter was transferred, from a mild ale to a dark and complex lager that confounds definition.  Immersed in dark, roasted malts and a bold citrus hop character, these big and contrasting flavors are brought together with the smoothness of a lager for a brew that’s bold, mysterious, and full of flavor. Batch #1

Style: Hoppy Porter? IPA (ish)Hops: Saaz, Zeus, Ahtanum, Simcoe
Malts: Two Row Harrington, Metcalfe, Copeland Pale, Carafa I, Caramel 60, Munich
Yeast: Lager
