Anchor Releases New IPA [VIDEO]

Anchor Brewing Company (San Francisco) announced today the release of their new Anchor IPA.

The spirit of the California gold rush inspires the art and idea behind Anchor IPA. The 19th century rush to California was to “See the Elephant” a metaphor for the pursuit of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You’ll see the elephant hand drawn by Anchor artist James Stitt.

The beer is brewed with whole cone hops, 2-row barley, and pours an amber color. In honor of San Francisco Beer Week, Anchor IPA will launch in California all month. Select U.S. markets will receive bottles and draft starting in March, 2014.

Style: IPA
Availability: 12oz Bottles (6 & 12 packs), 22oz Bottles, Draft. Year Round.

Heady Topper Will Have Canned Company Soon

What you may or may not know if that The Alchemist makes more than the (now famous) Heady Topper IPA.  Since the brewery suspended operations in their retail location, some of these other offerings have been released on tap in their Waterbury, Vermont home.

The Alchemist Focal Banger American IPA was first brewed at The Alchemist pub before it was destroyed by flood. Not only will Focal Banger be available on draft around their hometown, but it will soon be the brewery’s second canned offering ever.

Don’t get too excited just yet. The Alchemist laments that they aren’t 100% ready to go all out on the second canned offering. The world will see Focal Banger in a series of “pop up” sales leading up to regular release in the future.

Short’s Experimental IPA Hits Bottles

Today (Dec 23rd) marks the first bottle release of Short’s Brew’s Juicy Tree IPA.

Juicy Tree is an experimental India Pale Ale made with blue spruce tips, juniper berries, and cranberries.

Big aromatics of piney evergreen and sweet berries tingle the senses. After some slightly tart and tangy flavors up front, a harmonious balance between pleasant fruit sweetness and bitter pine is reached. A sizable malt bill, ample hop additions, and the floral fruity qualities of American Ale yeast all contribute to the symmetry of this beer. The finish in Juicy Tree (7.5% ABV, 65 IBU) is laced with a resiny stickiness that flows naturally into a lasting bitterness.

Short’s Juicy Tree is only available to brewpub patrons.

Style: IPA (Spruce Tips, Juniper Berries, Cranberries)
Availability: 12oz Bottles

7.5% ABV, 65 IBU
