The Bruery Freckle joins the Preservation Series of releases. Freckle draws inspiration from Mexican mole sauce.

The base beer for Freckle is an imperial stout, brewed with cocoa nibs and spices.

Freckle is a robust imperial stout that has been infused with the essence of an elegant Mexican molé. The dark, roasted barley in this 10.8% abv stout has been accented with a touch of rich chocolate and a hint of south of the border spice for our interpretation of the unique, sweet & savory sauce used throughout southern Mexico.

The Bruery Freckle is available to Bruery Reserve Society members, plus very limited distribution.

Perennial 17 Mint Chocolate Stout makes a return in February. The imperial stout is brewed with enough chocolate and mint to confuse and delight your tastebuds.

17 is an Imperial Stout brewed with huge amounts of chocolate malts, cacao nibs, and mint leaves. This hearty stout boasts 10% ABV and big chocolate aromas and flavors with a hint of fresh mint. This beer is perfect for the last cold months of the winter. However, it may be enjoyed right away, or allowed to age in the bottle.

Red Brick Imperial Stout (in Bourbon), February 7th

Red Brick Brewing (Atlanta, GA) is taking a hint from the lovers of 20th Anniversary Imperial Stout, when it comes to their February Imperial Stout release.

The 20th Anniversary release (imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels) was one of the brewery’s fastest selling, and most desired barrel aged beers to date. This February, the brewery will launch another rendition of the stout offering.

The Red Brick brewing team recreated the base imperial stout, and has been aging half of it in oak bourbon barrels.

 It features big notes of dark chocolate and espresso beans with a mild oak character.

Look for Red Brick Imperial Stout to hit shelves after the February, 2015. Part of the brewery’s Brick Mason Series.

Boulevard Imperial Stout “X” Coffee, February 10th

Boulevard Brewing Company (Kansas City, MO) has a big release year ahead of them. There are new year round offerings, new seasonals, and a lot of movement in their Smokestack Specialty Series.

Boulevard Imperial Stout “X” – Coffee will the first new Smokestack offering, arriving in February. The 2015 lineup is highlighted by not only two releases of Love Child (the sour/wild ale) but Imperial Stout “X.” Boulevard will use a key ingredient to change the base imperial stout to create new offerings throughout the year.

As a special treat for lovers of big, complex stouts, Boulevard Brewing Company offers the 2015 Imperial Stout “X” Series. The “X” factor stands for a key ingredient brewed into each of several limited releases plan throughout the year. This edition was infused with Ethiopian Sidamo Coffee from our Kansas City neighbor, The Roasterie, lending this robust Stout at subtle wine–like smoothness.

Boulevard Imperial Stout “X” Coffee will be available in 750ml bottles February 10th in Kansas City, other cities shortly after.

Goose Island calls it “Maple Innovation” right now, with a little “BCS” abbreviation visible in on the barrel labelling sheet.

Variants of Bourbon County include editions with coffee, Vanilla Rye, Berries, and coconuts.

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve 15 Released Today

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 15 has been released today. The release is actually a redux of Divine Reserve No. 05, a Russian imperial stout released in 2007.

 is a beautifully balanced, all malt imperial stout with nice roast, chocolate and hop notes working together. And for a beer that comes in it at just over 10% ABV… it is surprisingly drinkable which is always what we strive for. This is a beer that can be enjoyed immediately, or if you have the patience, stored cold and enjoyed several years from now. DR5 came out in 2007 and is still incredible.

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 15 is available starting January 26th in 12oz bottles. The barrel aged version of the beer was recently released as Bishop’s Barrel #8.
