Westbrook 5th Anniversary Chocolate Raspberry Imperial Stout (DRINK NOW)

Westbrook 5th Anniversary Chocolate Raspberry Imperial Stout has just sporadically hit shelves across the brewery’s distribution network.

One thing is for sure, the brewery love their birthday releases. That’s where Westbrook Mexican Cake got its start. Westbrook 5th Anniversary Chocolate Raspberry Imperial Stout is a 10.5% alcohol by volume imperial stout, brewed with raspberries, vanilla beans and coco nibs.

We’re talking boozy dessert here.

A couple of tasting notes to throw at you. After drinking this one last night, a few of the Beer Street Journal readers mentioned waiting/cellaring before trying this beer. Essentially hoping an aspect of the beer (like the raspberries) would fade a bit from the flavor…. At this point, you don’t really want this beer do you? The beer you have in your fridge right now is exactly as the brewery intended it. So… drink in the boozy bit of berry laden deliciousness in front of you. Don’t wait.

Westbrook 5th Anniversary Chocolate Raspberry Imperial Stout is available now in limited quantities in 22 ounce bottles.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Vanilla Beans, Raspberries, Cocoa Nibs.)
Availability: 22oz Bottles. Limited.

Avery Tweak Batch 2, January 31st

Avery Brewing’s Tweak, you might know by another name –Meph Addict. The name (referencing Mephistopheles) was changed because it sounded a little too close to a recreational drug you hopefully have never used. (Read the label description.)

Avery Tweak is Mephistopheles Imperial Stout, with a chunk of coffee thrown in. If you haven’t geeked out enough, the brewery aged in four months in bourbon barrels. Batch #2 is ready to as we kick off 2016. This edition a little boozier than Batch #1 (by more than 2% ABV).

Our very own Parker, of the cartoon cat loving variety, created this cult classic character back in our 17th season. Appearing in several episodes under another stage name that was deemed inappropriate, our executive producers and editors decided that a name change and further character development – a 4-month hiatus in bourbon barrels – were necessary to satisfy our more ardent and demanding viewers.

Batch No. 2 of Avery Tweak will be available in 12oz bottles in the tap room starting January 31st, 2016.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Coffee. Barrel Aged. Bourbon)
Availability: 12oz bottles
Distribution: AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, IL, KS, KY, MA, MN, MO, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OK, PA, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI, and WY.

Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout returns

Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout is next to return to the brewery’s 20th Anniversary Encore Series.

2016 marks the brewery’s 20th year of brewing, and to celebrate the double decade mark, Stone is bring back a few previous releases. First up was Stone Vertical Epic 08.08.08.08 that hit shelves last September.

From their 12th year comes Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. In 2008, hops were in short supply. That constraint forced the brewers (who were used to making hop forward beers) to get creative. The result was 12th, a malt forward beer that features pure cacao added at the end of the boil.

Eight years laterStone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout has been rebrewed to the exact specifications of the original recipe and features artwork evocative of the first time it hit store shelves. The onyx-colored, malt-forward stout offers a thick, rich, roasty mouthfeel and sensual chocolate flavors and aromatics.

Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout is available in 22 ounce bottles, and draft for a limited time.

Style: Imperial Stout (w/ Cacao Nibs)
Hops: Summit, Galena, Ahtanum, Willamette

Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Release: 1/25/16

Unknown Brewing Dirty Commie Heathen makes a 2nd appearance

Unknown Brewing Dirty Commie Heathen is making a second appearance at the end of the month. Last year’s release was very successful.

Unknown Brewing Dirty Commie Heathen is a Russian Imperial Stout that features over 4,000 pounds of grain used in the brewing process, Michigan tart cherries, and is aged with bourbon barrels. The 2016 recipe was dialed in a little more to the brewery’s liking.

Owner and Head Brewer Brad Shell is extremely happy with this years offering. This is only the second time ever this beer has been brewed and after last year Brad was able to make small tweaks to make it even better. Brad says, “This years Commie turned out amazing and I think people should hurry up and buy it before I drink it all!”

Unknown Brewing Dirty Commie Heathen will be available in 22oz bottles. The brewery recently added Atlanta, Georgia distribution. The state can expect this beer as well.

Other interesting bottle releases by the brewery include a lager brewed with 99 scorpions, and Vehopciraptor Double IPA.

Style: Russian Imperial Stout (w/ Cherries. Barrel Aged. Bourbon.)
Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft. Limited Release.
Return: 1/30/16
