Founders Barrel Runner will join the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in June.

The weather is finally warmer, perfect for sipping this pirate-themed, rum ladened offering – Founders Barrel Runner. The base beer is an imperial India pale ale brewed with mosaic hops, that has been aged in rum barrels.

This is the 4th release in the Michigan-based brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series lineup this year. Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Backwoods Bastard and brand new Founders Dankwood (bourbon barrel-aged red ale) have hit shelves ahead of this release.

You get a lot of bright, tropical character from the abundance of Mosaic hops plus a nice kick of oak and rum from the barrels. Add a tiny umbrella and you got yourself a beer perfect for enjoying poolside.” – Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki.

Stone will make a strong political statement with ‘I’M PEACH’ Double IPA this month

Stone Brewing will make a strong political statement this May.. Stone I’M PEACH Double IPA is coming by month’s end.

We live in turbulent times. uThe United States is more polarized politically then it has in years. By the looks of it, Stone Brewing will be making a bold political statement in the form of a beer – Stone I’M PEACH Double IPA.

Related: 5 Rabbit Chinga tu Pelo, an Anti-Trump beer

In case you missed the not subtle note in the name – I’M PEACH aka IMPEACH. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out they are alluding to President Trump. Read the allusion in the beer’s description:

It’s what a lot of us are thinking. We want to shout I’M PEACH from the rooftops. Yet, we’re afraid of the potential alienation from select peach-hating members of our friends and family. We want to call fro and I’M PEACH, but we’re afraid that we’ll look soft. Peach soft, like some freedom hating sissy, right? Nope. Not in our world. We know peaches are for the righteous. We’ve seen the light of their sweet juicy glory and how they pair excellently with the standup character of an American IPA. It’s not just right for you, it’s right for the country. You’re proud of our beautiful nation. You support good taste. Have an I’M PEACH party and we’ll unite hops, peaches, and each other.

Not much subtlety found there.

Stone I’M PEACH Double IPA will debut in late May 2018 in 12-ounce cans and draft.

Style: Imperial IPA (w/ Peaches)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: Late May 2018

8.8% ABV

Forecast: Hazy (& juicy). Terrapin Cumulus Lupulus returns this spring

If you are a brewery that just invested thousands in a new centrifuge, the news lately might sting a little bit. Hazy IPA is now an official style according to the Brewers Association. The style is basically here to stay.  Terrapin Cumulus Lupulus, a hazy IPA that was very popular last year, will return this spring.

Think of this beer as a hop showcase. Terrapin Cumulus Lupulus brings Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops into play, at nearly 4 pounds per barrel. If you are in the hops purchasing business, that translates to expensive.

For the drinker, those hops mean an imperial India pale ale big on citrus, passionfruit, and kiwi. “Trop hops” as we call them. The beer is unfiltered and hazy, which means a glass of resiny, juicy goodness. Not to overuse the terms hazy and juicy, but that’s what Terrapin brings to the table in this new can. 12 ounces of juicy citrus, meant to be consumed as soon as possible.

Cumulus Lupulus is a great big juicy super hopped up unfiltered IPA with tropical fruit notes throughout the entire beer, from aroma to finish. – “Spike”, Terrapin Co-Founder & Brewmaster

Terrapin Cumulus Lupulus will return in the spring of 2018 in 12-ounce cans and draft. The brewery will again stagger market releases to ensure freshness.

Style: Imperial IPA
Hops: Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: March 2017
Latest Return: April 2018

8.1% ABV
