Boulevard “Reboots” A Past Smokestack Release

Boulevard Reboot White IPA

Boulevard Brewing Company (Kansas City, MO) is literally rebooting a past release from the Smokestack Series again. The first time this beer was made, it was an Oregon/Missouri mashup with Deschutes Brewing. The beer was so good, it needed a reboot.

This re-release of our 2011 Collababoration Series No 2 White IPA brings back the unique marriage of a classic Belgian-Style witbier to an American IPA. Version 2.0 has upgraded its spicy aroma, with hints of bubblegum and clove. Bold flavors will launch upon uncorking, as sage and lemongrass balance the tangy, zesty wheat malt profile. Of course we recommend keeping at least two backups in the fridge. Press start to repeat.

Style: White IPA
Availability: 750 ml bottles, Corked & Caged
Arrival: TBA

Stone’s German Influenced Anniversary Beer Released [VIDEO]

Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA officially releases today. This German influenced brew features malts and hops you’d usually see in German pilsners.

Don’t be surprised, Stone 17th is an imperial IPA (the brewery loves this style) but with a little hop twist. Stone brews with truckloads of American and New Zealand hops for their mainstay IPAs. 17th’s German hops give the brew a more herbal, spicy and peppery flavor.  What’s in a name? Götterdämmerung means a “disastourus conclusion of events.” For Stone, it means this is about as much as they know on using German hops.

Look for this new imperial IPA in 22oz bottles and draft for a limited time.

Victory DirtWolf Honors American Hops

Victory DirtWolf Double IPA

It’s a comeback baby! American hops have become the envy of the world. From floral, tropical, piney, to just plain out aggressive, American hops are to craft brewing what hotdogs are to baseball. Victory Brewing Co’s DirtWolf you see above gives those hops a high five. A tribute to the ‘wolf among sheep’ that rise from the ground almost as fast as you plant them, no imperial IPA is complete without them.

This nearly 9% creation uses whole flower, right off the vine hops. Release date to follow. Also, be on the look out for Winter Cheers, coming (presumably) this fall.

Darkly heroic, Humulus Lupulus (hops) have empowered brews with bite and character since the 11th century.DirtWolf is a tribute to these untamed vines which rise from the earth with the voracity of a ‘wolf among sheep.’ Hops have made an assertive comeback in American craft brewing. Revel in the best US varieties of hops, in their natural, whole flower form, as they bring a vital, pungent reality to the soul of a wild element in our I dangerously satisfying DirtWolf.

O’Fallon Launches New “10 Day”

O'Fallon 10 Day IPA

O’Fallon Brewery, brewers of 5-Day IPA have launched a new imperial IPA – 10-Day IPA. This hoppy newbie has over three pounds of hops per barrel. (Note: That’s a lot of hops.) A bolder compliment to the brewery’s 5 Day IPA offering.

O’Fallon’s Brewmaster: The result is a very hop forward beer, but 10-Day also has a sturdy malt backbone which balances the beer. The malt also gives 10-Day IPA a subtle caramel sweetness and a hint of honey bothwhich help balance hop bitterness. Once the beer was finished Owens added even more Centennial, Chinook and Calypso hops (a process called “dry hopping”) to give the beer a huge citrusy, piney aroma which has become the signature of American Imperial IPAs.

Style: Imperial IPA
Hops: Centennial, Chinook, Calypso, Magnum
Availability: Sept -Dec. MO, AR, AL, IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MS, OH, PA, TN, WI
