Odell & Marble Brewing team up in Stone Megawheat Double IPA

Stone Megawheat Double IPA is a future collaborative release by the California based brewery.

This riff teams up Colorado’s Odell Brewing, Stone, and New Mexico’s Marble Brewing. The trio created a wheat laden,  “M” hop heavy, imperial IPA. “M” hops like Mandarina Bavaria, Motueka, and Mosaic. All that talk means a soft-on-your-palate beer with a ton of tangerine, orange, and citrus flavors.

Kick back and crank it up as we’ve done all the brewing.. the we being us and the special guest appearances of two heavy hitters in the indie craft beer industry: Colorado’s Odell and New Mexico’s Marble. Credited with 50 years of brewing chops, our trio built their wheat ale foundation on the classic “C” hops. Then, they rocked a pure hop triad of “M” hops to achieve a supercharged succession of orange, tangerine, lemon, lime, spice and dankness. The undulating riffs of Motueka, Mosaic, and Mandarina Bavaria hops slash through the wheat haze with equal footing, never playing over one another. The cacophony of flavor is what fans would expect ahead of a path that directly leads to the main stage… and then off the front of it, into the crowd!

Stone Megawheat Double IPA will be a 22 ounce bottle release, most likely in 2017. The brewery has not yet announced this beer.

Style: Imperial IPA
Hops: Mandarina Bavaria, Motueka, Mosaic

Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
Debut: TBA

Wicked Weed Tyrant, a Boozy Follow Up to Tyranny returns

First there was Tyranny. Not long after – Wicked Weed Tyrant, the imperial edition in the hoppy series.

Wicked Weed Tyrant is a double “red” imperial pale ale, much like its red predecessor. Walt & Luke Dickinson, brewers as Wicked Weed refers to this beer as having “candied hop” flavor.

Tyrant: The rule of Tyrant is unrelenting and uncompromising, fitting for the Double India Pale Ale with its iron fist of dankness and scepter of scarlet malt dominion. Its deluge of hops and malt will instill trepidation in even the bravest of craft warriors. All yield to the Tyrant.

Wicked Weed Tyrant is a 500 milliliter offering, now available once again in November, 2016. Full distribution across the brewery’s network.

Style: Imperial IPA
Availability: 500ml Bottles
Latest Return: November, 2016

Heavy Seas Partner Ships Imperial Brown Ale, brewed with Stone debuts

Heavy Seas Partner Ships Imperial Brown Ale, the fourth in the brewery’s Partner Ships Series, has officially debuted.

Thus far there have been three collaborative releases. The first – a red IPA brewed with Maine Beer Company. That ode to hops was followed up by a collaboration with Hershey, Pennsylvania’s Troegs Brewing, and most recently, a rye witbier brewed with Terrapin.

The fourth release is brewed with one of California’s most well-known breweries, Stone. Brew day was back in October for this imperial brown IPA brewed with blackstrap molasses.

Brewed with Blackstrap Molasses in the kettle, chewy malt character supports layers of American hop mayhem (we are playing with Stone after all) – a burly, palate obliterating Imperial Brown IPA!

Heavy Seas Partner Ships Imperial Brown IPA will be available in 22 ounce bottles. Estimated release – November, 2016.

Style: Imperial IPA (w/ Blackstrap Molasses)
Hops: Centennial, Palisade, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe

We’re thrilled to honor our hometown baseball hero by doing what we do best, brewing beer, and giving craft beer and baseball fans a commemorative brew to honor an extraordinary legend.” – Jim Koch, Boston Beer founder.

NoDa Rye Z’D, canned celebrating 5 years

NoDa Rye Z’D is returning Noda Brewing’s lineup this month, in cans for the first time.

The seasonal imperial IPA has been featured on draft in the past. A rye heavy, 7-hop India pale ale that is hard to put down, and hard to forget. The Charlotte, North Carolina based brewery crosses the 5 year mark this month and is celebrating by releasing a few new cans.

A solid malt backbone with a hefty amount of rye to further the grain bill, NoDaRyeZ’d has a 7-hop blend that accentuates the spiciness of the rye and gives the beer an American IPA flavor, aroma and substantial bitterness.

Style: Rye Beer/Imperial IPA
Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft. Taproom release.

Spotlight: Three Taverns Hoplicity, the brewery’s hoppiest

Three Taverns Hoplicity was canned this week by the Decatur, Georgia brewery. Not only is the beer one of the hoppiest in their arsenal, it is also one of the most expensive to brew.

Three Taverns Hoplicity debuted last fall. The recipe is anything but a whim. Brewery founder Brian Purcell has been saving up and trading hops in preparation of this monster. Last fall the stars (or hops in this case) aligned. 3T had enough El Dorado,  Amarillo, Simcoe, and Galaxy to brew Hoplicity.

Logically, our next question asked how the brewery arrived at this recipe. Surprisingly, Hoplicity was a shot in the dark. Their Belgian brewmaster Joran Van Ginderachter, didn’t create many aggressive, American, hoppy beers while brewing abroad. Night on Ponce IPA was his first, and a homerun at that.

Hoplicity is a blgger, bolder beer, based loosely on Ponce. At nearly 10%, it is indeed aggressive. Besides beer, music is a big love and inspiration for founder Brian Purcell. Miles Davis classic album Boplicity inspired not only the name of this dank offering, but the feeling of improvisation that brought this beer to light.

Hoplicity carefully crafts a steady backbeat of alpha acids and transitioning layers of resinous, citrus, and tropical hops into a rich textured ensemble. This is our hoppiest beer and promises to leave your palate stunned, erratic, and eager for more.

Three Taverns Hoplicity is a seasonal 12 ounce can and draft release, through winter 2016.

Style: Imperial IPA
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: October, 2016

Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA: 10/31/16

Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA hits shelves again now, part of the brewery’s ongoing dedication to freshness. Tangerine IPA is joined periodically throughout the year with other rotating variants such as Unfiltered IPA and Black IPA.

This latest edition of Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA has an “expiration date” of Halloween, October 31st. Find it, and drink it by that date or else.

After brewing this intense double IPA with more than 10 different hops and consistently delivering it faster than any bottled IPA on the planet, we decided to do something different with this Stone Enjoy By IPA—we took it to another level, again. Puréed tangerines were added to the batch to create a devastatingly fresh IPA with a tang of tangerine. The flavors yielded by this addition to the recipe meld beautifully with the bitterness of the hops. True to this series, Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA is brewed specifically NOT to last, and should be enjoyed within 37 days.

Stone Enjoy By Tangerine IPA is available across Stone’s distribution footprint starting in late September. It will be available on draft as well as in 6 packs and 22oz bottles.
