Cigar City’s Complete 5 Beers for 5 Years Lineup

Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, FL) is making up five missed birthday commemorative releases with a “Five Beers” series. With the above label, all five release have been revealed.

The full lineup includes:

Tasting Room: Florida Weisse Ale
Reps & Marketing: Imperial Oatmeal Cream Porter
The Cellar Team: New Zealand Double India Pale Ale
The Brewing Team: American Barleywine
Packaging Team: Gose Ale

This final offering in the series will be a goes ale brewed by The Packaging Team. Gose ales are typically tart/sour wheat ales, hailing from Germany.

Boston Beer Files Trademark for “Boston Strong”

Boston Beer Company has filed a trademark for “Boston Strong” 26.2 Brew. The idea behind the slightly rebranded/rename is to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The brewery will allow other breweries to use the “Boston Strong” trademark, as long as 100% of the profits are donated to charity.

All profits from the 26.2 Brew (the second release to date) will be donated to the Greg Hill Foundation, supporting victims and families affected by the act. Boston Beer also states that next years profits will benefit other marathon charities

26.2 Brew is a gose, clocking in a 4.5% ABV and is described as having “light cereal notes from malted and unmalted wheat, rounded out by a spicy, peppery character with a soft mineral quality from a touch of salt. The result is an unusual and delicate brew that is full of flavors to discover… and worth crossing the finish line for.”

Sam Adams 26.2 Brew Returns this Year

In conjunction with the Boston Marathon, Sam Adams announced they will once again be brewing their 26.2 Brew. This beer will only be available at race-related events including bars and restaurants along the race route.

This 4.5% ABV Gose is described as having “light cereal notes from malted and unmalted wheat, rounded out by a spicy, peppery character with a soft mineral quality from a touch of salt. The result is an unusual and delicate brew that is full of flavors to discover… and worth crossing the finish line for.”
