Founders Green Zebra Watermelon Gose makes a spring return

Founders Green Zebra cans

Founders Green Zebra returns to cans in April.

For more than five years, Founders has brewed a beer for the ArtPrize competition hosted in the brewery’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Previous releases in the lineup include Pale Joe, Spectra Trifecta, and Mosaic Promise.

Founders Green Zebra, is a goes-style ale brewed with watermelon and sea salt. A new packaged style for Founders, as well as being the first ArtPrize release that has been canned.

“We love playing with expectations when it comes to brewing our ArtPrize beers and Green Zebra is the perfect example of that. The gose style is very unique and pretty unknown, even amongst craft beer drinkers, and we wanted to bring our version of it to a larger audience. For the first time ever, our ArtPrize beer will be available across our entire distribution network so even more of our fans can get to know this style we’ve fallen in love with.” – Dave Engbers, Co-Founder and President

Jacob Wiseheart, an employee of Founders taproom created the label artwork.

Boulevard Hibiscus Gose debuts in cans in April

Boulevard Hibiscus Gose

Boulevard Hibiscus Gose will debut in cans in April.

This floral gose started as a Boulevard holiday beer years ago, bottled briefly in the brewery’s Backroads Series in 2014. Boulevard Hibiscus Gose is created by adding sea salt during the boiling process, along with coriander. During the whirlpool process, Boulevard infuses the wort with dried hibiscus flowers.

A slightly salty aroma with a touch of coriander and citrus/cherry notes wafts from the beer. The leading flavor is a lemony tartness obtained from the brewhouse souring process with subtle salt and coriander notes. Hibiscus Gose finishes crisp and dry with a slightly lingering sourness that’s tempered by the sea salt, coriander, and hibiscus flowers.

Boulevard Hibiscus Gose debuts in the brewery’s home city of Kansas City, Missouri on April 2nd. Expect 12-ounce cans and draft in the brewery’s other regions shortly after launch.

Style: Gose (Hibiscus, Coriander, Sea Salt)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut (Cans): 4/2/18

One of our favorites from last year. Hi-Wire Citra Gose returns to shelves

Hi-Wire Citra Gose can

The Asheville, North Carolina based Hi-Wire Brewing’s specialty lineup has recently included stars like Pink Drink, 10W-40 Imperial Stout, and, Man Eater. A Beer Street Journal favorite from 2017 Hi-Wire Citra Gose is making a second appearance this month.

The tart gose is big on the tropical notes of Citra hops which fall on a background of sour tartness. Gose is a great beer, but throw in the aspects of Citra hops, and the real winner is your taste buds. This release is so bright you’ve got to wear shades. Every sip of this is a reminder that warm weather is coming.

Hi-Wire Citra Gose is available in 16-ounce cans and draft in limited quantities across the brewery’s distribution footprint.

Style: Gose
Hops: Citra

Availability: 16oz Cans, Draft.

Top Gun Beer: Second Self Margarita in Gose returns

Second Self Margarita in Gose cans

We honestly aren’t sure what we drink more of around the Beer Street Journal office – beer or margaritas. This release makes choosing between the two a little bit easier. Second Self Margarita in Gose is back for a second season.

Let’s address the most badass fact about this beer, the Top Gun theme. Second Self now has a “Top Gun Series” of beers, that started with Maverick & Gose last year. That beer is back in the skies (shelves) once again with an updated recipe. Since you can’t pull off an inverted flying maneuver without a partner, Second Self Margarita in Gose, aka “MIG” is here.

MIG mimics the taste of a margarita thanks to fresh orange lime juice and Florida orange peel. Those flavors, plus a touch of salt makes this gose margarita/ beer hybrid. Shots of tequila might make the perfect compliment. The choice is yours.

Second Self Margarita in Gose is available in Georgia and Alabama again in March 2018.

Style: Gose (w/ Lime. Orange Peel. Coriander, Sea Salt.)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut: 6/1/17
Latest Return: March 2018
