Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities White Peach Saison debuts

Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities White Peach Saison has debuted, a late summer saison with peaches.

Erin and Nate from the brewery’s marketing team, mentioned the idea for this release. As a late summer release, a French-style saison would be nicely nuanced by white peaches. In case you don’t know, white or pale peach is lower in acidity, than a yellow peach, and taste sweeter.

The candy-sweet character of El Dorado hops added a modern twist to the beer, which is already high on our crushability scale.

Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities White Peach Saison is a 12 ounce bottle and draft limited offering.

Flying Dog Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout Hits Shelves

Flying Dog Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout is the first Brewhouse Rarities release of 2015. The beer is inspired by the spicy hot chocolate beverage.

The brewery created Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout with lactose, cinnamon, serano chiles and cocoa powder.

…a combination of sweet spice and roasted chocolate aromas are lollowed by flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and a lingering chili finish.

Flying Dog Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout  has already hit the brewery’s tap room. 12oz bottles hit shelves in Flying Dog’s limited distribution territory as early as this week.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Lactose, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Chilies.)

Coming soon to both draft and 12oz bottle is Flying Dog Mint Chocolate Stout.  The name is pretty explanatory. Flying Dog has taken a chocolate stout and added mint. Look for release information updates soon. Judging by the 2014 Release Calendar, Flying Dog Mint Chocolate Stout is planning for February.

Flying Dog Brewhouse Rarities Releases 11/5

Tomorrow, November 5th, Flying Dog releases the latest Brewhouse Rarities offering. Vineyard Blonde, a collaboration with Breaux Vineyards. The beer combines the base recipe of a blonde with grape juice,  Belgian and champagne yeasts. Draft only offering.

The combination of a Belgian yeast and Vidal Blanc grape juice (from Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville, Virginia) creates a fruity and floral nose with hints of honey, banana and pineapple. Those notes continue in the flavor profile, along with melon, citrus, and malty sweetness. The addition of a champagne yeast during fermentation makes our Vineyard Blonde finish dry and spritzy.

Style: Belgian Style Blonde Ale (w/ grape juice)
Hops: Nelson Sauvin:
Malts: Pilsner Malt, Torrified Wheat, Aromatic Malt

6.4% ABV, IBUs: 25

Flying Dog’s 2014 Brewhouse Rarities List

Flying Dog is nearing the end of the 2013 Brewhouse Rarities releases. The series gives the brewery an opportunity to experiment with new ingredients and recipes. All are on tap, some get promoted to special 750ml bottle releases.

Everybody in the brewery, from accounting to the brewers themselves get involved in the planning process. More than 40 recipes were considered for the 2014 schedule.

The 2014 list is ready to go public. Here is a tasty list for you to look forward to next year:

  • Mint Chocolate Stout
  • Ginger Beer
  • Agave Lager
  • Lemongrass Rice Ale
  • Hoppy American Wheat
  • Honey Ale

Bottle Rumor: Flying Dog Cinnamon Porter

Then again, sometimes the beer hits bottles. That’s where Cinnamon Porter comes in. This “rarity” is planned for a December release on draft, and potentially large bottles too.

The Brewhouse Rarity bottles are 750ml bottles, sold in the tap room.
