Bruery Terreux Souren, an 8 Wired Collaboration

Bruery Terreux Souren, a new collaboration with New Zealand’s 8 Wired Brewing launches August 5th.

Soren Erikson of 8 Wired made a pit stop in The Bruery’s home of Placentia, creating a “California style” sour beer. The base is a Belgian-style golden ale, pinot noir grapes. Bruery Terreux Souren eventually came to rest in oak barrels.

Souren is named for our pal Søren who runs the show down in the far-off land of New Zealand at 8 Wired Brewery. Taking the long way home after a trip to the States, Søren and his team stopped off in Placentia for a day of brewing, and we created a very California-style sour beer together. Starting with a Belgian-style golden ale base, Pinot Noir grapes were added and the beer was sent to rest in barrels at Bruery Terreux. Over the year, the complexities grew and this grapey, funky, spicy beer was born. Half Kiwi, half American, this one has a rather handsome accent.

Bruery Terreux Souren is available in 750ml bottles. First released to Hoarders and Reserve Society members, then limited distribution.

Style: American Wild/Sour Ale (w/ Pinot Noir Grapes. Oak Aged.)
Availability: 750ml Bottles. Limited Release.
Launch: 8/5/15

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo Released in Quingenti Series

Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) released a collaboration – Xocoveza Mocha Stout last year. The beer was a creation of home brewer Chris Banker, who brewed with not only the Stone team, but Cerveceria Insurgente from Mexico.

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will grace the brewery’s coveted Quingente Millilitre Series, a souped-up version of the original release. In addition to the cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg that was added to Xocoveza Mocha Stout, Stone has aged this edition in both red wine barrels and tequila barrels.

The base beer is the recipe of 2014 Stone Homebrew Competition winner Chris Banker, an intensely flavorful milk stout brewed with coffee and spices to mimic the rich flavors of Mexican hot chocolate.

Stone Xocoveza Extra Anejo will be available in 500ml bottles in very limited quantities. No distribution. Bottles were released at Stone World Bistor today.

Cigar City Slow As Molasses, a Swamp Head Collab

Cigar City Slow As Molasses, a collaboration with Gainesville, Florida’s Swamp Head Brewery.

Cigar City Slow As Molasses is an old ale, brewed with Florida molasses. Proceeds will benefit the Florida Brewers Guild, who has been busy lately fighting against legislative moves that could damage how craft breweries do business in the state.

The Florida Brewers Guild has been a catalyst for growth of Florida’s craft beer industry since its inception in 1996. The guild helps brewers around Florida band together to fight for legislation that helps our collaborative industry continue to grow. This collaboration brew, and others of its kind that will arise, is a tribute and fundraiser for our friends at the FGB. We like to think of it as an attaboy in a bottle.

Cigar City Slow As Molasses is a 22 ounce bottle offering. This is part one of a two part collaboration series between the two brewers.

This offering has been officially announced by the brewery.

Style: Old Ale (w/ Molasses)
Availability: 22oz Bottles
