Speakeasy Black Hand Chocolate Milk Stout returns in January

Speakeasy Black Hand Chocolate Milk Stout, a collaboration TCHO Chocolate, returns January 9, 2016.

Brad Kintzer, Head Chocolatier at TCHO recommended Speakeasy use a special blend of Ecuadorian cacao nibs, which will give the beer not only rich chocolately favors, but a nutty note too. Black Hand is full of milk chocolate flavors, start to finish.

lack Hand pours a rich dark brown with a milky coffee-colored head. Bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and roast envelopes the nose, carried by roasted cacao nibs and chocolate malts. The aroma blends effortlessly with soft flavors of dry chocolate and darkly roasted malts. The addition of milk sugar provides a silky smooth body, with a subtle natural sweetness of cream.

In keeping with the brewery’s theme, “Black Hand” refers to a Pre-Prohibition practice where mobsters would stamp the kidnap victims name on a ransom note. Speakeasy Black Hand Chocolate Milk Stout will be available in 22oz bottles and draft.

Style: Milk Stout (w/ Chocolate)
Availability: 22oz bombers
Latest Return: 1/9/2016

The Bruery Fourthmeal, a collaboration with Maine Beer Company

The Bruery Fourthmeal, a collaboration with Maine Beer Company is being bottled today. The Freeport, Maine based brewery recently traveled to Placentia, California for a brew day.

The Forthmeal name is a little homage to some of Maine Beer Company’s most popular offerings, Lunch and Dinner. The beer is a hoppy, Belgian-style ale, that combines flavor elements that both breweries are known for – Maine Beer Co.:Hoppy, The Bruery: Belgian influenced.

The Bruery and Maine Beer Company got together and cooked up something special for you: fourthmeal. It isn’t brunch; it isn’t “dinner.” It’s a hoppy Belgian-style ale that brings aspects of both breweries to the table: fruity, Belgian yeast esters, a crisp, ready backbone, citrus and piney hop characteristics, and a dry, hop-forward finish. There’s no-one shouting “come n’ git it” when it’s time to dine – just mouthwatering, dry-hopped aromatics, signally that it’s time for fourthmeal.

Per The Bruery, the collaboration will be “hoppy” with limited distribution through their network. Release details to follow.

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America Returns in 2016, With 30 Breweries

Sierra Nevada (Chico, CA/Mills River, NC) will re-create the Beer Camp Across America Series again in 2016. Today, the brewery released a little teaser video, now that the brewery process has already begun.

Last years Beer Camp featured 12 breweries creating their own Beer Camp recipes around the United States. The 2016 party will feature 30 breweries, chosen in six regions of the United States. (See graphic below).

These 30 breweries are in groups of five (plus a brewer from Sierra Nevada). Each will devise a new recipe for the Beer Camp Across America mixed pack, coming in 2016.

Next year, expect Beer Camp Across America release parties and special events in the six regions, starting with Northern California.

In the meantime, flashback to Beer Camp Across America 2014’s lineup.
