Clown Shoes Luchador El Fuego

Clown Shoes (Ipswich, MA) celebrates 3 years with Luchador El Fuego. The beer is a 100% barrel aged edition of they brewery’s Chocolate Sombrero with a couple of extra editions. Wrestle with this: the beer is chocolate imperial stout, brewed with Ancho chili powder, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. For this edition, they added extra ancho chilies and chipotle peppers. Then aged it Wild Turkey and Heaven Hill barrels.

Our third anniversary beer up sizes Chocolate Sombrero, using extra ancho chili and adding chipotle peppers. We aged the brew 100% in Wild Turkey and Heaven Hill barrels. May it leap onto your palate majestically, like a luchador who flies into the ring from atop the highest rope.

A Cigar City Chocolate Gourd Emerges

There is a little known history with Cigar City’s Good Gourd, the brewery’s pumpkin beer. There was the first year’s release, in 2011. This year, the recipe was tweaked a little bit and released again.

But there are a couple of side projects with this brew. Last year, a tiny batch of Good Gourd Almighty was made. (Or… experimented with.) That was Good Gourd in rum. It really gives Avery’s Rumpkin a run for it’s money. Not released publicly.

That brings us to today. Cigar City introduces a Chocolate Good Gourd. That would be the imperial pumpkin ale with cacao nibs. A one and done keg. After it blows, spend your Halloween in Tampa today drinking Hunahpu. Tapping right after. You lucky Floridian bastards. (And beautiful females of course.)

Style: Pumpkin Beer (w/ Cacao Nibs)

A New Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Flavor: Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Banana Ale

Rogue Voodoo Donut Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

Rogue Ales (Newport, OR) made a real splash in the beer world when then unveiled Voodoo Donut Ale. In honor of a Portland Oregon based Voodoo Donuts breaking the world record for largest box of donuts (666 lbs), the brewery made the first Voodoo Doughnut ale- Maple Bacon Porter. Brewed with real bacon, maple syrup, smoked malt, and vanilla beans. I believe there were even media kits running around that had a pink condom in it.

Looks like another edition is on the horizon – Voodoo Donut Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana. By the looks of it, this beer is modeled after the Memphis Mafia donut. (Elvis inspired? See below.) As it’s predecessor, looks like big painted pink bottles again for this edition.

Style:                   (w/ Banana Extract, Peanut Extract, Chocolate)
Hops: Rogue Farms Revolution, Independent
Malts: 2-Row, c-150, c-175, Carafoam Special II, ChocolateAA
