Exclusive Look: Terrapin Hi-5 IPA Cans

Terrapin Beer Co (Athens, GA) made a series of announcements at a press meeting last night. One of the bigger announcements was the addition of a can to the brewery’s lineup.

In addition to RecreationALE, Terrapin will be adding a new west-coast style IPA called Hi-5 IPA. The beer, while not officially brewed yet, will be full of Pacific Northwest hops.

You will need to order beer accordingly. Walk to bar. Extend hand. Receive Hi-5 (IPA).

Terrapin Hi-5 IPA  should be available in the spring. The above is a Beer Street Journal exclusive look at the can artwork. Note, the wording isn’t correct for Hi-5.

Pizza Port Brewing Begins Canning

For the first time in their 26-year history, Pizza Port Brewing will begin canning.

Starting this week, San Diego area craft beer drinkers can partake in Chronic Amber Ale, Pronto Pale Ale, and Swamis IPA. 

It was a natural evolution for us,” said Pizza Port co-founder Gina Marsaglia. “Our consumers like to be outside and want to take great beer with them. The can is a portable and sustainable way for them to do that.”

The 16oz cans come from leading can manufacturer, Ball Corporation.  Pizza Port operates four brewpubs along the Southern California coastline.

Sam Adams Porch Rocker Slated For Cans

Samuel Adams will soon expand their can empire with the addition of their German-style radler, Porch Rocker.

Porch Rocker is a lager/lemonade blend that is already available in 12oz bottles as a seasonal. The “shandy” blend will join Boston Lager, Oktoberfest, and Winter Lager in the special Samuel Adams can design.

Boulder Beer Releases “The Heckler” Cans

Boulder Beer Company (Boulder, CO) has canned a new offering, The Heckler.

The beer is Belgian-style tripel, available in 16oz cans. The beer is brewed in commemoration of the 2014 Cyclocross National Championships, taking place in Boulder in January, 2014.

The Heckler will only be available in Colorado.

This is New Belgium’s New Year Round Offering

New Belgium Brewing will be debuting a new year round offering, Snapshot, in February 2014.

This new wheat beer offering is actually a blend of two beers. The first is traditionally fermented with an ale yeast. The second is actually fermented with lactobacillus, which gives the beer slightly tart undertone.

Flavor:

…The beer opens with a citrus note from Target hops, coriander and grains of paradise, then gives way to malty smoothness and a refreshing tart snap at the finish.

Snapshot will debut in both 12oz bottles, 12oz cans, and draft. Look for a multi-city beer tour surrounding the launch to be announced soon.
