Orpheus Brewing Launches Cans [VIDEO]

Orpheus Brewing (Atlanta, GA) has officially launched their first can offerings.

The brewery opened their doors earlier this year and has been draft only until this week. Atalanta, slightly sour plum saison, becomes Georgia’s first canned sour. Lyric Ale Saison, the brewery’s other year round offering ships alongside Atalanta.

Both offerings are in 12oz/6 packs, with the help of Toucan Mobile Canning.

Beer Street Journal caught up with Jason Pellett on canning day number one.

Great Divide Hibernation Ale, A Can Potential

Great Divide Hibernation Ale is among the potential cans when the brewery goes aluminum in 2015. Great Divide has built into their $38 million dollar plans, a canning line.

Year round Titan IPA will presumably be among the first can offerings, with Hibernation Ale arriving as a seasonal when is releases in later 2015.

HIBERNATION ALE has been our celebrated winter tradition since 1995. This robust, dry-hopped ale has a malty richness balanced with a complex hop profile and hearty, warming character.

Great Divide Hibernation Ale will be a 12oz cans. The canning line is slated to go live in late-spring/summer, 2015.

Great Divide Titan IPA Coming to Cans

Great Divide Brewing Co. (Denver, CO) will add cans to their lineup in 2015. The canning line is a part of a $38 million dollar expansion by the craft brewery.

Among the initial cans includes Titan IPA, a current year round offering.

TITAN IPA is a big, aggressively hopped India Pale Ale brewed for hop disciples. It starts out with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishes with a nice rich, malty sweetness that is balanced with crisp hop bitterness.

Great Divide Titan IPA will be available in 12oz cans for the first time in early to mid 2015.

SweetWater’s Can Tabs Get a “Mini” Upgrade

SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) is a paying attention to the little details. The can tabs on 420 Extra Pale, and IPA will feature a laser etched rainbow trout starting in November.

Also, you might have noticed the brewery’s cans colors have changed a little since launch. SweetWater has been working on refining the can look, basically since day one. They are getting closer to satisfied with look now.

Red Hare Sticky Stout Cans in November

Sierra Nevada Nooner Slated for Cans

No question that that Sierra Nevada cans have been successful. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale & Torpedo have done extremely well. The brewery has mentioned many times at the launch of cans, and since, that they are looking into more options.

Looks like the aluminum future holds Nooner Pilsner in for the California/North Carolina brewery.

Nooner Pilsner packs a big flavor into an easy drinking beer that’s fit for friends and afternoon adventure. Nooner is our take on the classic German Pilsner, filled with bright and zesty whole cone hop flavor with a crisp dry finish – the perfect pick for wherever the day may take you.

Orpheus Brewing Starts Canning This Weekend, Sneak Peek at Can #3

Orpheus Brewing Company (Atlanta, GA) will starting canning this Sunday with the help of Toucan Mobile Canning.

Two flagship offerings will kick off the new package – Atalanta (Tart plum saison, 5.25%) and Lyric Ale (Saison, 6.5%).

The cans are printed (as opposed to shrink wrapped), ordered from Crown.

A little Beer Street Journal nugget for Orpheus fans – the third can offering will be Transmigration of Souls (Imperial IPA, 10%). Expect that late February, early March.

The Atlanta market should see cans for sale in very early November, 2014.
