Creature Comforts Bibo Pilsner cans hit Atlanta

Creature Comforts Bibo Pilsner are now available in cans for the first time. The brewery’s hometown of Athens, Georgia has seen the first distribution, with Atlanta not far behind. This is Creature’s third year-round offering.

It took time to grow and extra capital to increase fermentation capacity in order to release their already year-round draft pilsner. Creature Comforts Bibo Pilsner has been available from the brewery’s inception two-years ago, only on draft.

“For this label, we took inspiration from the classic design of European Pilsners, which are often a more traditional style with colors including white, gold blue, silver, red and green,” said Creature Comforts Co-Founder and CEO, Chris Herron.

Creature Comforts Bibo Pilsner is brewed with Czech Saaz, Sterling, and Moteuka hops. The Athens, Georgia market will see Bibo cans the week of May 7th, corresponding with the Athens Criterium bike race. Creature Comforts is a sponsor for third year in a row.

As of June 10th, can shipments of this beer are available in the Atlanta market as well.

Style: Pilsner

Release (Cans): May, 2016

4.9% ABV

Update: Creature Comforts tells Beer Street Journal that the Bibo Cans in Atlanta will be extremely limited in the Atlanta area after this shipment. The brewery is still focusing on the Athens market for the time being. Automatic Pale Ale cans are next up in production as well…

Unknown Hospitali-tea, a tea laden amber ale returns

Unknown Hospitali-tea has return once again to the brewery’s lineup.

It’s the south, and sweet tea is king. The Charlotte, North Carolina based brewery created a caramel malt heavy amber ale, and added black tea leaves and orange blossom honey. The hops mimic lemons. The result? A boozy sweet tea style beer

Made with black tea leaves and sweet orange blossom honey, this beer is on the lighter side with great caramel malts. The finish of sweet tea and hops provide a new floral lemon aroma. Plain and simple, Hospitali-tea is refreshing.

Unknown Hospitali-tea is a 12 once can and draft offering for the summer.

Style: Amber Ale (w/ Black Tea, Honey)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.

Return: June, 2016

Bell’s Quinannan Falls is being canned this week

Bell’s Quinannan Falls Special Lager Beer will be the next canned offering from the Comstock, Michigan based brewery.

Inspired by a place that Larry Bell imagined in a dream, neither the beer, nor the waterfall existed outside his imagination. Michigan artist, Kathleen Kalinowski made the vision a reality the next day, and the beer was born.

The lager beer is reminiscent of a German pilsner, brewed with Simcoe hops.

The end result is a dry-hopped lager that possesses a crisp, dry bitterness you would expect from a German pilsner, but the use of highly aromatic Simcoe hops from the Pacific Northwest, evoke the fragrant pine forests that inspired this beer.

Bell’s Quinannan Falls Special Lager Beer will be available in 12 ounce cans (6 packs) starting in late June, 2016. Above, the image of the canned waiting to be filled at the Michigan brewery on June 7th.

Style: Lager
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.

Stone IPA now available in cans for the first time

Stone Brewing announced in February that they will be canning at their new Berlin, Germany brewery. The cans would be distributed around Europe. That announcement came much to the chagrin of American fans, who wanted cans stateside.

It wasn’t long before the American fans would get the good news.

Now, Stone IPA is hitting shelves in 12 ounce cans for the first time since being released in 1997.  Just in time for summer.

By definition, an India pale ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale—and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well-respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy, piney hop flavors and aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Stone IPA is a 12 ounce bottle, 12 ounce can, and draft offering, year-round.

Style: IPA
Hops: Magnum, Chinook, Centennial
Availability: 12oz Cans, 22oz Bottles, Draft. Year-round

Debut (Cans): Late May/June, 2016

6.9% ABV

Great Divide reimagines their 20 year old Denver Pale Ale

Great Divide Denver Pale Ale has officially been reimagined, in both recipe and artwork. The brewery celebrates their 22nd birthday this month.

For the last 22 years, Great Divide has called Denver, Colorado home. For 20 of those years, the brewery has been releasing Denver Pale Ale, an English-style pale ale. Two decades later, it’s time to change that up a bit.

Great Divide recognizes that drinker’s palates change over the years, about as much as the city of Denver has changed. Beer, like cities, are a living thing.

“This city has changed a lot since we first launched Denver Pale Ale almost 20 years ago, and so have the palates of craft beer drinkers. The original Denver Pale Ale is a great beer, and has won a lot of awards throughout the years, but we decided it was time to update the beer to better represent everything that this city has become.” Brian Dunn, Great Divide’s founder and president.

Great Divide Denver Pale Ale can is being transformed in a “living” work of art. Every year, a new can will be released, wrapped in the artwork of a different local artist. This year, Josh Holland’s design was chosen.

Along with the new look, the brewery has reimagined the base recipe to capture the essence of their hometown Denver. This new edition of the pale ale boasts big citrus and pine flavors, finishing with toasted malts, and a slightly bitter finish.

Great Divide Denver Pale Ale (Artists Series) will be available in 6 packs in Colorado. The art can will be found across the United States in the brewery’s Candemonium 12 pack.

Style: Pale Ale
Availability: Year-round
Debut (New Recipe): June, 2016
