Highland Mandarina IPA is now cans for the first time as June winds down. Honestly, we are in love with this new India pale ale.
As spring was ending, the Asheville, North Carolina based brewery started introducing cans for the first time. Pilsner was up first. Now, Highland Mandarina IPA expands the canned lineup. The beer features a strong dry hop of Hull Melon and Mandarina Bavaria hops, plus California oranges. (To the tune of 400 pounds per fermenter.) This beer is so labor intensive, it takes the entire brewing team to puree the oranges in preparation.
The result is an incredibly smooth IPA with strong notes of orange in both the nose and the flavor. A fantastic addition to the brewery’s lineup. While at the brewery, founder Oskar Wong mentioned how excited he was to launch this beer. Mandarina is a staff favorite, and really, it was brewed for them. You are just lucky enough to drink it too, year-round.
“We combine Mandarina Bavaria and Hull Melon dry hops with hundreds of pounds of whole pureed oranges to create a unique orange blossom aroma and orange zest flavor in this fruit IPA. – Hollie Stephenson, Head brewer
Highland Mandarina IPA is available on draft and 12 ounce cans year-round.

Style: IPA (w/ Oranges)

Lagunitas 12th of Never will officially be the brewery’s first canned offering. Above is a Beer Street Journal exclusive look at the new beer.
Tony Magee, the brewery’s founder, said a while ago that his brewery would be the last to ever can their beer. If you look at the current state of the brewing industry from the can perspective, he might be close. Canned offerings are tripling by the day.
Lagunitas 12th of Never is – surprise, surprise – a hop forward beer. Described as a “bitter-esque, pale-isa ale”. As we sit here drinking it for the first time, it truly is damn hop forward, walking a fine line between pale ale and IPA, kind of beer. A truly tasty beer for this nearly 100 degree start to the summer. Fans of Lagunitas Brewing’s bold hop flavor will be quite happy with this release year-round.
This is a blend of Old & New School hops that play bright citrus and rich tropical flavors, all on a solid stage of English puffed wheat. Light, yet full bodied… the Lagunitas 12th of Never Ale is everything about making hop forward beer expressed in a moderate voice. Pale, cold, lightly alcoholic, and bitter. It’s all we know.
Lagunitas 12th of Never – aka their first canned beer, arrives in a twelver of 12-oz 12ths. Or. 12 ounce cans, in a 12 pack. First shipment drops in July.
Style: Pale Ale
Availability: 12oz Cans. Year-round
Debut: July, 2016
5.5% ABV
Asheville Lemon Space Dog is available in cans for the first time. The Asheville, North Carolina based brewery is kicking off their summer in a space-y way.
The base beer in Asheville Lemon Space Dog is a wheat beer, featuring newer strains of hops like Lemondrop. The result is a beer with a strong citrusy and zesty aroma.
“Lemon Space Dog’s smooth lemon flavor makes this a welcome and crushable summer brew,” – Pete Langheinrich, Asheville Brewing Company head brewer.
Asheville Lemon Space Dog is available in 12 ounce cans and draft wherever the brewery is sold, until September. (or it sells out.)

The Atlanta based brewery has been using Toucan Mobile Canning service for their first can beers. Now the brewery has purchased a canning line, and will bring the operation in-house.
Second Self Maverick & Gose will be one of the first beers off that new line. A traditional gose brewed with fresh coriander, and a Top Gun theme.
…a traditional Gose includes fresh CORIANDER and DRY HOPPED with Wakatu hops to balance out the slightly TART and SALTY nature of this fun beer.
Second Self Maverick & Gose will be a 12 ounce can and draft offering, just in time for pool season.
Style: Gose (w/ Coriander)

If you love the brewery’s hoppy beer Resin, then you will really love Sixpoint Puff. The beers are closely related.
The relationship between Sixpoint Puff and Resin is personal one… they start as the same beer. Imagine pulling Resin from the tank at the brewery in New York. Now think of that same beer, but with an extra round of dry-hopping. You now have Puff.
If you love Resin, imagine tasting it straight from the tanks. That’s what PUFF is – an un unfiltered pour from the tanks, with an extra dose of dry hops before it hits the can and keg. How sweet to be a cloud -floating in a tank of Resin! It’s Mad Science.
Sixpoint Puff is meant to be consumed within 100 days of the date code on the can. (Rule of thumb for every IPA for that matter.) Available in 12 ounce cans for a limited time.
Style: Imperial IPA
Availability: 12oz Cans.
Debut: June, 2016
9.8% ABV, 108 IBUs

…subtle notes of stone fruit and apricot in this hazy, sessionable sour wheat beer.
