Three Taverns ships first cans

Decatur, Georgia based Three Taverns Brewery has packed their first canned offering, hitting shelves by mid-July.

First up – Three Taverns Prince of Pilsen, the brewery’s traditional pilsner first released in the fall of 2014.

Prince of Pilsen tributes the most popular beer style in the world. Originally brewed in the bohemian City of Pilsen in 1842, the new sensation was widely imitated and now makes up 90% of beer consumed around the globe. This Euro-style version is refreshingly crisp and dry hopped with Falconer’s Flight 7Cs for a distinct citrus aroma and bite.

Three Taverns Prince of Pilsen is already available in 12 ounce bottles and draft. 12 ounce cans of Pilsen start hitting shelves the week of July 11th. A kick of tour party is planned for Monday, July 11th. Attendees can take home one of the first Prince of Pilsen 6-packs.

More canned offering are currently in planning, but not announced.

River Dog IPA debuts in cans. Ride the shark.

River Dog IPA is hitting shelves now, the brewery’s second can offering.

Nothing says hoppy like a dude riding a shark right? Especially if there are water-skiers involved. River Dog IPA is all about citrus and apricot (trust us, we’ve had it), and easily one of our favorite India pale ales in South Carolina.

Like the fresh waters meeting the salty ocean tides, this unique blend of American malts and citrus hops join forces to create a flavor profile that’s as good as it gets.

River Dog IPA joins Riverwalk Empire Pilsner in 12 ounce cans. Shark it up this summer.

Style: IPA
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut (Cans): July, 2016

6.3% ABV

Spotlight: Flat12 Cucumber Kolsch

Flat12 Cucumber Kolsch is coming to cans this month. The Indianapolis, Indiana brewery unique spin on the German style is a summer favorite.

The brewery’s can line is about 2 years old; having already canned Upside Down Blonde, Half Cycle IPA and Hinchtown Hammerdown.

Flat12’s summer seasonal begins with lager qualities owed to pilsner malt and cold fermentation. It pours a deep gold color with smooth drinkability and a super-refreshing finish from an infusion of cucumber. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a hot summer day. You’ll stay cool as a cucumber with this Kölsch.

The big question… do cucumber and kolsch go well together? We’d like to think so. The Beer Street Journal team spent the July 4th weekend killing a six pack. The kolsch style isn’t the easiest style to brew and Flat12 has done a tasty job. The cucumber flavor just adds to the refreshment, making this beer even more summer-y.

Flat12 Cucumber Kolsch is now available in the taproom and distribution.

Pinko Russian Imperial Stout will follow in late summer, Flat Jack Pumpkin Ale in August, and a new fall seasonal in September.

Style: Kolsch (w/ Cucumber)
Availability: 12oz Cans, Draft.
Debut (Cans): June, 2016

5.2% ABV, 28 IBUs

Burnt Hickory Brewing launches cans

Kennesaw, Georgia based Burnt Hickory Brewing launches their first cans this week. The brewery started with Didjits, a blood orange India pale ale.

Punk rock music fans might recognize the beer name, named for the band The Didjits, formed in the 80’s. The Offspring covered their song Killboy Powerhead on their Smash album (probably The Offspring’s most famous, it had Come Out and Play, and Bad Habit tracks on it.)

Burnt Hickory brewed their first beer in 2012 on a 2-barrel system. Since then, the brewery has expanded to a  20-barrel brewhouse.

As with all breweries, this is just the first of many canned offerings coming in the future.

Shelves- July.

Arrogant Brewing Who You Callin’ Wussie is available nationwide starting today. If you don’t know Arrogant Brewing, think Stone…

Stone Brewing, and now the wing of their brewery “Arrogant,” has railed against “industrialized fizzy yellow beer” for years. Get ready for a string of quotes.
